... were off the scale. Absolutely bloody brilliant. Almost redeeming a horrible venue, though not, if we're honest, quite.

I liked the keyboardist being cooked in a pot by a flamethrower during Mein Teil. The best bit was a bit of playacting detail whereby the original flamethrower Till Lindeman was using wasn't quite doing the job, so a roadie brought on a bigger flamethrower. You don't get that at a Coldplay gig.

As my brother pointed out, the sound they attain is incredible. Even more terrifying live than on record.

Hahaha.
Excellent. You have to love capers like that.
I've just had four whole days of a Nashville singer-songwriters' festival.
I could have used a laugh like that.

The O2 is a horrible place. I used to work there at uni and it is a festival of assholes.

Harry Truscott sent me a text saying Rammstein was the greatest gig of his life. Now, Harry and I have been to some amazing gigs together so this is some claim

Yeah, I say "terrifying", but actually, mostly I had an enormous grin on my face throughout. Unbelievable fun. The show is a fucking Gesamtkunstwerk, I'm telling yez.

Gosh, a lot of us were there, then.

I got chatting briefly to a girl at the bus stop at London Bridge who was wearing a Rammstein T-shirt. She's off this Friday to Nottingham to see them again. I wish I was.

If you were with Purves we might have ended up meeting up, WaL. As it was, it seems we were in different postcodes despite being in the same venue.

Not that I'm complaining, show like Rammstein are far, far better on the scale the o2 affords.

Don't even tempt me with the idea about seeing another show on the tour, I might snap.

I was indeed with Purves, and various members of our respective clans. He mentioned you were going, come to think, and your plus one, and how you came by it.

I would be so up for seeing them in Germany some time. Preferably Berlin. I think that would be the best thing in history.

I hope I don't sound snotty, but I just don't get Rammstein, at all. I really want to, because they are obviously ticking multiple boxes for a wide range of people. But I find their music dull and predictable in a bad way, it does nothing for me, doesn't even make my foot tap.

Like I say, I really want to like them and I've tried, but I just can't get it.

I hate coming into a thread of people all enjoying a shared musical interest and dropping something like that steveetc., so thanks for doing it on my behalf!

I hate coming into a thread of people all enjoying a shared musical event after the event.

There's no redeeming aspect to it. It's too late even to get brownie points with the missus for not attending.

Oh, yes! I think "Keine Lust" is already first cousin to "The Beautiful People" anyway.

A bit disappointing really. I expected some big production but the set and sound were like 'Pebble Mill at One' and Mazza is at his Elvis '76 stage. No Till either, boo!

Oh, has it happened already. Is there a link, Harry?

Or several links? 2? 3? 4?

If you must. I just feel sorry for Mazza, I really thought it was going to be some OTT collaboration but the Echo Awards are clearly not on the lines of the Grammys or Brits.

I don't know how Doom got his hands on that gold vest top my mum used to wear in the eighties.

I don't whether you meant his stage attire but that is 68 Comeback Special
posted 23-03-2012 13:21
Yes, because I am so ignorant on Elvis in general and the '68 Comeback Special in particular, aren't I?

I meant chubby, lumbering and mumbling which is '76 About To Go not-so-special.
