TOPIC: African Psych Mix C&S

posted 02-12-2009 19:00
A friend of mine here in Montreal just put up a really nice set of 16 proto-afrobeat psychedelic funk-rock songs from around the continent (mostly W. Africa) in anticipation to a gig he did yesterday. Check it out, it's quite good.

Can I just say (yes, I can) that Chrissy Zeppy Tembo - Feeling Good, has just saved my Friday afternoon from the doldrums of absolute wretchedness.

Proper fantastic.

Apologies for being the Thread Necromancer.

No need. Is this still live? I can't get it to work! How did I miss this?

It was before you joined, I think.

That's probably true, but I was surely lurking.

I have some of these already, but I want more!

Cheers Jim, love the fuzz guitar on that track.

I don't seem to have the compilation on my new computer's drive sw2, but perhaps I can suggest something in the same mold you might enjoy, though it is a bit earlier (a bit more R&B and garageish) and from corners of the continent that haven't been as covered (portuguese-speaking countries like Mozambique and Angola; Madagascar).
