That's a good one JV. Here's the number of counties that voted for Obama (and Kerry in 04) in the last two elections.

Without question, the most ignorant voters in the nation.

So, what's the deal with debates this time around? How many, what format, when, etc?

In all reality, this should be a 50-0. Even Oklahoma should go for Obama. I just hope we can win the House.

That would be nice, but judging from polling I've seen on 538 and electoral-vote, the Democrats will be fortunate to hold the Senate. Obama winning the presidency and the Republicans holding the House are likely, and it's touch and go for the Senate.

Right on cue, dailykos had this today, about how each party basically is guaranteed 40% of the vote.

Mitt's just described his idea of "middle income" as USD 200,000 to 250,000 a year.

DIE IN A FIRE

And just wait till the Republicans say "Well, Obama defines middle class as up to $250,000, so what's the difference?"

Mitt struggling with the "base".

Sheryl Harris, a voluble 52-year-old with a Virginia drawl, voted twice for George W. Bush. Raised Baptist, she is convinced -- despite all evidence to the contrary -- that President Barack Obama, a practicing Christian, is Muslim.

So in this year's presidential election, will she support Mitt Romney? Not a chance.

"Romney's going to help the upper class," said Harris, who earns $28,000 a year as activities director of a Lynchburg senior center. "He doesn't know everyday people, except maybe the person who cleans his house."

She'll vote for Obama, she said: "At least he wasn't brought up filthy rich."

Good for you, Sheryl Harris. I mean, not good on the Muslim stuff, but we need more Americans thinking like that about Mitt.

He'll get a McCain-style hammering, won't he?

McCain wasn't actually hammered. He lost by six states and 7.2 per cent, which is a decent margin but not a 1984-style rout.

Romney is an appalling candidate, even worse than the doddery old turkey McCain. It's extraordinary that this election is even remotely close, and I wouldn't be Obama's biggest fan.

In terms of the number of votes needed to change the result, wasn't it one of the bigger defeats?

So, having a look round the Internet the right-wing line on Libya seems to be that our embassy was attacked because Obama has made America look weak. I guess this is intolerably different from the many times terrorists attacked us for looking so strong under Bush.

It is though very similar to the attack on the World Trade Centre. In 1993.

Can we see your workings there?

Sure. The 1993 attack was Clinton's fault because he took his eye off the ball in the couple of months after he took over from Bush Snr.

The 2001 attack was also Clinton's fault. Because Bush Jnr had only been in charge for seven or eight months.

I thought it was MSM's fault? You know who's fault it wasn't, though? Reagan's.

This election sucks. It's not entertaining at all. Neither side is trying to shake things up - they're just hammering each other with the same shit they've been using since June and staying essentially anchored in the polls. Obama's ranges from being about 1 point up to about 4 points up. in '08 the polls were moving two or three points a day at this point in the race.

I might not even vote, that's how disaffected I am.

Heh. Too bad you can't!

I agree. This race has been pretty depressing, mostly. And now Romney seems to think his only chance of winning is driving wingnut turnout rather than appealing to moderates (he may be right), so it's going to get even uglier.

I really wish I could spend the next two months in another country.

I thought today's TPM summary of the race as it stands was pretty good.
