Not too high a price in the end, though it's about double where it was I suppose! Perhaps I should have gone one more... though I do have my own YA set up to provide a forward.

Cue another 19/4 Dyer.

In the private league TM, you should now be able to find:

17/3 midfielder
long passer
English name
deadline 2017-01-15 11:00
At the rock bottom price

The player has come from the Great Ouse Town academy. Original name is Danny Harsley but I presume there is a new male and female identity for the player on the market.

In the official transfer market, Cardiff Dragons will be offering from this evening
Joe Elliott MF 16/4 vanilla
Allan Shanks GK 36/15 HT
Ashley Wynne F 36/15 FK HT

The latter two may decide they don't want to leave of course, and may be a skill bar less as both have sub 10 DV (hence the sale).

I'm not actually attached to 5 x 10 in the Human League. It's what The People Wanted. I think I voted to stay at 12s FWIW.

But if the numbers stop at 48, well we'll see what happens then.

You could always put it to another vote and see if they would prefer 12-12-12-12 or 10-10-10-9-9.

Do the divisions at the top of leagues always have to have the greater number of teams?

In this current instance, could it alternatively be 9-9-10-10-10?

No, like most things with league structure it is done automatically.

It is unfortunate there isn't more flexibility.

For example, I think OTF would work much better at the moment with a 1-1-2 structure but that isn't possible, only 1-1-1 or 1-2-3.

Tales from way down the pillar on which the J4GL pyramid rests:

We're tied up in a frantic promotion battle in Division 2c (fourth tier). With one game to go, and four promotion spots to be divided, the standings are:
#TeamPtsGDGFGA
1.De Stroppendragers33+122210
2.The Crew33+112110
3.Tyrannosaur33+92011
4.Harchester United FC32+62721
5.Gorgie Mods30+93526
The best thing is that in the last round, the top four all play each other, while the fifth team play an already relegated outfit. We have:
De Stroppendragers - Tyrannosaur
Harchester United FC - The Crew
Gorgie Mods - Jumping Jacks

Most teams will secure promotion with a draw. Exceptions are Gorgie Mods, who secure promotion with any victory (in which scenario they are sure to overtake either Harchester United FC or The Crew), and Harchester United FC, who need any victory if Gorgie Mods win (HUFC can also get promoted if GM win, HUFC draw, and there is an unexpected blowout at the third game, but this is quite unlikely*).

The Division title race is so close that no-one can clinch it independently of the scores in other games.

I noticed earlier how absurdly tight your division is Wouter, and it doesn't look like today's matches have done anything to make it less so! Best of luck with your final game – it seems ridiculous that you could beat the team in third who are level with you, yet still lose the title on GD to the one currently in second. It's going to be a frantic last day.

On a completely different note, I've just noticed – not to my surprise, it has to be said – that one league where there's no advert for The Human League is the Xpert Ladies. I know it would possibly seem like trolling to go plonking one there in the midst of 'enemy territory', so to speak, but there's a self-aggrandising new advert there for Rated M For Mature and I've love to see THL undercut them at the same time. Just a thought...

As the only member of the THL crew with an Xpert Ladies team... it's done. Great idea, thanks VA.

Basilbrush303 has applied for and been given the Vodquilla job in MLX. He's been in the league before, hasn't he? It's bugging me.

He seems to want to call them Basil's Bastards. I can't reject on my phone for some reason but if any of the three assistants want to exercise some power, feel free.

If he points to Pretteh Shetteh Citeh, we could suggest B'stards. Or Bustards...!

Disappointing defeat for Toucans, too. And GOTWFC are now as good as down.

Now wondering if I should just let the team name through... any thoughts? ad hoc has a Csiki Bastards in the OTFL fantasy game for example.

With very little to play for in THL, I accidentally did it to Thirdway again, today! Deprived Mon Mothmas Legends of a divisional title, that is.

We beat them 2-0, while Braceby leapfrogged them to the top of the table - and then some - by demolishing Brooklyn 4-0.

The resultant 3 point and 5 goal difference between them will be almost impossible for them to overturn now - particularly since Braceby face Rowayton on the final matchday. (Sorry, DGLH, but...!)

We're almost turning into Mon Mothmas' bogey team! :-)

Oh, I am fine about that. Rowayton are an interesting project team for me at the moment. We typically field an average age of 22 at the highest.

Even as Empire State Humans fall to the foot of THL Division 2 after a drab end-of-season desperate-DV-boosting 0-0 and head for a deserved second consecutive relegation since taking charge, I get to be manager in that division's Xpert Eleven. Nyess.

Sandringham had one hand on the Division 2 title for 18 minutes of the second half against Just Plain Random today, but then having come back from a goal down to lead we got pegged back to 2-2 in the 69th. The last quarter of the game was all us on the possessionometer, but then somehow they got two shots right at the end and scored a 90th-minute winner that will in almost all certainty hand them the title – they are now 3pts ahead of both us and Monstrous Regiment with one to play.

350 grand was what VSU actually received for Jessica Klovning earlier today, after all that talk. It's already been spent on 2 3/4 training sessions or thereabouts, naturally. Gah.

I always leave team names to you as admin, Kev, so I'd skipped over this request on seeing it. It is a tricky one to judge; perhaps you should go with it and if anyone objects then you could ask for it to be changed?

I think you're right that he was in the league previously, as I remember thinking before that with our Mr Brush and MrFawlty both present then in effect we had two 'Basils' at once. Can't remember who he might have managed, though.

Good work on putting the Human League ad up in the Xpert Ladies, by the way Kev. Arguably it's the best place of any to advertise, since there's the chance to catch those managers dissatisfied with the way that league operates on the very spot, as it were.

Yes thanks Kev. And with manager #48 applying just now it looks as though the anti-Brexit referendum will be dead in the water.
