TOPIC: The new issue with Roberto and Mario on the front

posted 14-01-2013 10:25
Promptly delivered 2 days before hitting the shops. Just as it should be. Not read it yet, but will probably go straight to the article on orange balls.
Also unpopular managers, Walthamstow Avenue and player Q & As in programmes.

The away kit rant is one I regularly employ, but Seb wasn't militant enough. Yellow is ALWAYS the best colour for away kits. Even Norwich should wear it away from home.

It's change kit, not "away kit".

Wingco appears to have completely forgotton about John Craven's Newsround in his imagined 1970s BBC1 kids TV schedule in Match of the Month.

Haven't read it all. But, a couple of things -

The orange balls article. As good as promised.

The managers hated by their own fans article. I hadn't heard about the Spurs fans chant about George Graham before. That made me laugh. I like articles where I learn something new.

Ditto the Newton Heath libel case. Brilliant.

The Rangers v bloggers article - who cares? I wasn't sure what the point of that article was, really.

Why is there a book about Manchester City reviewed every other month? Yawn.

Bury's yellow and royal blue effort this season is utterly dreadful. It looks like something made by Henleys that an 18-year-old #lad would wear in Kavos.
Last Edit: 15-01-2013 16:58:23 by Giggler.

Good issue this, read all pieces from beginning to the end which i rarely do.

One thing though - in the (very goodski must be said) piece about Walthamstow Avenue there's a polish keeper named Stanisław Gerula mentioned. In reality he was named Stanisław GERULI.

I know it belongs to pedants corner, but still...

Cracking article on Walthamstow Avenue. I'd read once before they'd enced up merged (via several mergers along the way) into Dagenham and Redbridge. Does their Cup run of the 50s still represent that new club's best ever tilt at the FA Cup?

Probably because there is no such word as 'forgotton', yet.

(Sorry, I thought we were still doing spelling pedantry.)

Presumably cos lots are being published, for obvious reasons.

Magik - Geruli was commonly known as Gerula throughout his playing career so that's the name we used.

Also, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Cardiff City photospread write up should be talking about the South Wales Echo, not the South West Echo.

You might have to appoint an Inaccuracies Editor to ensure that each issue contains enough to keep the readership engaged.
