Suarez is certainly a terrible cheat, but Garcia is right, there's a nasty xenophobic subtext to a lot of the criticism. Like Ronaldo before him, the media and rival fans are all too happy to single him out due to his greasy foreigner status. It's fairly sickening. Which is why my criticism of the nasty, racist, cheat is kept strictly nationality neutral.

Unusual as it is for me to have a football related point that no-one else has made, but isn't Pulis' "done a great job to come 13th" reputation a bit out of date?

He seems to have spent £54 million net in the Premier League.

Either he's going to have to start behaving himself until he starts to win penalties again, or liverpool should sell him. If he's not going to change, he's not going to be much use to liverpool, and if he's not prepared to change, liverpool will be well rid of him.

There are lots of other talented forwards out there who will score a goal from every 13 shots, who won't cause a tenth of the trouble.

suarez, with RVP, is currently the top goalscorer in all competitions with any english top flight club.
posted 08-10-2012 23:31
and unlike RVP he hasn't scored any penalties.

hmm, he won't be playing at carrow road again. playing there did wonders for his stats last year as well. he's not a bad player by any manner or means, but at some point you have to start wondering if he's worth the hassle. Liverpool have had much better players than suarez over the years, and they've never had a fraction of the hassle that they've had with little luis.

Can anyone name one single premiership footballer who is not a despicable cheat? All footballers 'cheat' if you call diving and abusing other players 'cheating'. (I don't, for the record.)

Suarez is one of only five footballers of world class in the Premiership, the suggestion that Liverpool would be better off without him because wankers like Pulis and the usual motley crew of jingoistic journos and commentators are on his case is just bonkers.

Purple,
I agree with most of your post, but who are the other four world class players?

But they don't have better players now that's why he's worth the hassle.

i'm suggesting meregreen that he gets singled out as the worst cheat in the league by people like you and pulis, but that he does not deserve this status; notwithstanding his dive he was not even in the top six cheats of sunday's game.

Garcia, I didn't say he was the worst cheat in the league. I said he was a despicable cheat. There are probably others as bad but he's certainly a repeat offender who, given his reputation, would be advised to lay off the diving for a while. He seems incapable of doing this. Tarring people with the little Englander brush doesn’t alter this fact.

it's fucking bollocks. as usual, suarez was the best player in the game, practically the only fucking player out there who does anything worth watching. as usual he's having shit flung at him by a gang of apes whose eyes are too close together.

if i was him i'd be getting the fuck out of england and sadly that is what i suspect will happen. it seems like most people over there agree that what the english game needs is more robert huths and fewer luis suarezes.

It’s very easy for him to rebuild his reputation: stop diving! There have been arguments on Everton forms as to why Jelavic doesn’t get more penalties, yet the reason is obvious. He has a (justified) reputation for diving. Until he stops, the defenders will be given the benefit of the doubt.

You’re right about one thing, though. I’d be delighted if Suarez leaves England. Not because I want to see more Robert Huths, but because he is just about the only decent player Liverpool have got these days.

Blimey, that's a pretty tough categorization.
I guess you don't watch Sky or read the British press. Do you work for that German magazine who say there are only two world-class player currently playing and everyone else is "league Class".

That's Kicker, and it's based on form over a period of time.

Don't underestimate Tony Pulis' achievement in managing to be the most obnoxious person wearing a baseball cap at any football ground he visits. There's usually some pretty stiff competition.

He has and , as I have pointed out before, Welbeck manfully stepped up to take over his diving duties for both club & country.

The baseball cap helps add to the whole 'junior football/swimming coach likely to be arrested for Savilleesque shenanigans' persona, dontcha think?
