Evian have fired their manager, Pablo Correa, after only four matches (three losses and a draw with OL).

Correa had only been in the job since January.

The coaching position at Evian is very fluid.

Ibra now with a league-leading 4 goals, in only 2 games played.

Indeed, one can say that Evian's entire existence is one of peaks and valleys.

Barton's suspension has been recognised by the French League, which means he needs to sit out nine Ligue 1 or Coupe de la Ligue games for OM.

Je dirais même plus, Evian are a bunch of big Jessies, it is their Number One problem: they really have no bottle.

The suspension for the new fada has been confirmed then, great.

I'm glad to see that this thread is living up to OTF's best traditions, rather than being watered down.

I've also noticed that they've often been all at sea of late.

Possibly because their defence is not as watertight as it used to be, so I am told.

Too many water-carriers in that team I reckon (c'est bon c'est bon, j'arrête).

Anthony Le Tallec recruited by Valenciennes...

"Le Tallec is one of the greatest footballers in the world", according to crackpot extraordinaire and ex troubadour Francis Lalanne (énorme):

That's typical thumb in dyke strategy from Evian, hiring another new boss and within months they'll probably just go to water again. "Pfffffft! Je plaisante."

I agree, Evian are heading on a slippery slope if they continue with this management policy.
posted 07-09-2012 10:48
It is indeed the source of their problems.

Lalanne is the president of a small club from L'Aisne that has reached CFA 2.

He's also Exhibit No. 2732 in support of my theory that an appearance on Dancing with the Stars is conclusive proof of C List Celebrity status.

Do they think that new managers run on tap?

Well, he was the president until June 2011, then left in an almighty huff and/or was kicked out... to be reinstated a few weeks ago!

He is famous for all manner of involvement with football, with les Bleus too, since 1998 natch, le bal des Footix so to speak (I have the So Foot special on Lalanne taking over this Aisne club – Fresnoy –, can email it to you if you want, let me know).

After Fresnoy he was nearly involved in this mad venture (tinyurl.com/bqrc8zj) but it came to nothing, cue new So Foot special on this Belgian club, another madcap story involving ex Auxerre & Glasgow Rangers keeper Lionel Charbonnier (un truc de ouf).

Lalanne’s been proper crackers for a while now. To think he was my idol when I was 18… (though I hasten to add that he was perfectly sane back then...).

Charbonnier involved, what a surprise. Does Lalanne claim to support AJA? Though one would wonder why he thinks highly of Le Tellec if that was the case.

I'd love to see the So Foot piece. I'll pm you an email address.

I really should subscribe again. Especially now that ursus minor can read them.

Not sure who he supports TBH. Every time I see him on TV, he strikes me as raving mad (last time, about 18 months ago, on Ruquier's Sat. night France 2 programme, he nearly physically attacked a journalist who was calmy reviewing a poetry book FL had written, he is so aggressive and crackers it's unreal - in fact, said journo later stated that FL had assaulted him backstage!).

Sochaux's Doubai with the goal of the week at St Etienne, bicycle to the roof. The Verts deserved the loss if only for the particularly nasty tackle by the aptly-named Brison which caused the to play most of the game one man down.

Great to see Ligue 1 putting out highlight packages like that.

Pouplin had a hell of a game for Sochaux.

I'll be interested to see if they can get away with this. Their current deal is for €3.5 million a year.
