Indeed.

Meanwhile Emanuele Pesoli (who received a 3 year ban) has chained himself to the gates of the FIGC in protest.

There was that small incident a couple of years ago when another club (Pro Belvedere) were wiped out of existence in order to keep Pro Vercelli alive and in the league, but yes it's a nice story. I love their ground too, got probably the wettest I've ever been outside of a bathtub watching a game there!

He has now ended his three day protest saying that all he ever did was answer the phone call asking him to throw the match, not sure if that is true though.

In honor of the Sicilians who helped to build New Jersey and New Orleans, and in honor of a student I had this past year who was born there and my great outdoor education teacher who was also from there, I am returning full-time to Serie A with the rosaneros of Palermo.

So every major victory I expect to be congratulated, and I will do my part to make the superclassicos with ppv and Ass Crack Shitlan as trash-talking as possible.

I have also bought Lotto and Legea Palermo gear off of eBay, and I shall be wearing that in my training sessions in a way to imply that I actually watched the coaching staff of Palermo during the past few years, without actually saying it.

As you were.

I figured I need a team to cheer for this year sin Bari.

With the return of the Cosmos, I will also give Serie A a new lease on life.

Thanks for the pic. I didn't know they have hurricanes in Italy !

I saw that magazine cover on a tumblr site, (I see that B movies share meanings with sport in Italy,) and I figured Pro Vercelli would be the best joke to cram in there.

(Not that I can cheer too much, as my beloved Palermo is losing to Napoli in their opening game as my deep hated rivals Catania are winning.)

A few observations from Juve's 2-0 victory over Parma yesterday:

- Parma's away kit is 'lush', as the kids say, echoing the home strip they were so successful with during the Tanzi reign. Bit odd for them to evoke memories of the corrupt Parmalat regime that funded them, especially after returning to the Crociata for symbolic reasons. Nevertheless, a gorgeous kit.

- i Ducali can consider themselves a little unlucky throughout the game, Pirlo's goal being particularly dubious (though not quite in the same manner as Sully Muntari's ghost goal debacle last year). The penalty decision was harsh also, Lee Evans clearly being offside in the build up. In typical calcio fashion, Parma GM Pietro Leonardo said he would not stir up controversy regarding the incidents, and then proceeded to do so anyway, asking "how a linesman cannot see such a clear offside by Lichtsteiner and yet the other official has not a single doubt with regards to Pirlo’s goal?", before moving on to complain about Parma's bookings.

- Juventus started to move into gear in the second half; Kwadwo Asamoah seems a fine signing, though the team could do with a reliable striker. It wont be Llorente, I am fairly convinced of that. Jovetic? The thought of Jovetic together with Giovinco is positively mouth-watering (and just because of my secret man-crush on the atomic ant). I love Stefan Jovetic but I really miss his Bryan May hair.

- Speaking of hair, several Juve players were sporting what can favourably be described as 'intriguing' facial hair yesterday. Andrea Pirlo has gone for the six-months-in-a-cave-waiting-for-the-apocalypse look, whilst Mirko Vucinic is cultivating a jaunty mustache, perhaps to misdirect attention away from his frustratingly languid performances. Give him a chance, he is a talent, but he did look like he couldn't be arsed for much of the first game of the season.

Inter's 0-2 defeat at home to Siena today means that neither they or Milan have registered a victory at San Siro this season. Remarkable stuff. Juve are +9 on Milan and +6 on Inter after 4 games. Lazio have the chance to draw level with the leaders this evening.

In some shocking news of an Italian club president acting unprofessionally, Cagliari's game against Roma was postponed deep in the night. Cagliari, you might recall, ended last season playing all the way in Trieste (at the lovely Nereo Rocco stadium) due to their Sant'Elia ground being noncompliant with Serie A standards. This season, they have at least been able to stay in Sardinia, playing at the Is Arenas in Quartu Sant'Elena, albeit behind closed doors as the stadium is under renovation. Anyhow, Cagliari President Massimo Cellino moved to tell fans to attend the match in spite of its current failings. The saftey concerns raised as a result of this contumacious decision meant the game was called off last night. Roma are demanding a 3-0 W/O victory. Calcio eh...
