I would have thought there was a better story in One would expect Sir Alex Ferguson to be less of a lickspittle shitehawk towards his owners, but I'm sure you're way ahead of me on that.

It's that time of year isn't it? It's becoming an annual event. Fuck him.

What possible need do they have for van Persie? Last season they scored their biggest number of league goals since 99/00.

He's the last player they should be buying, not least because he's extremely unlikely to go two full seasons in a row without getting injured.

it's been like that for three of four seasons. Man utd finish the season. Man utd buy one or two players, chelsea/man city go insane throwing money around. Man utd still don't buy anyone else. The summer tour starts, Ferguson tells everyone that he's perfectly happy with what quite frankly is a very large wage + Net transfer budget compared with essentially every other football club in the world. Says that from his point of view (the only one that matters) the glazers are basically no different to last owners, except less perverted than martin edwards.

The season starts, it turns out that the players man utd signed are much better than everyone thought, man utd do really well. It comes to the summer time, man utd buy a couple of fairly low profile players, Man City/chelsea go crazy...... The cycle continues.

Bollocks. That's not what he said. He claimed anyone protesting about the Glazers aren't proper fans. He also said the Glazers were great for the club. He then went on to compare Michael Carrick to Yaya Toure.

That's nonsense, he's nowhere near as old as yaya toure.

He says all that stuff every year as well, or some variation of it. He's not big on what he sees as dissent.

He's a piece of shit.

(Ferguson, that is)

I'd say it's more likely that the Glazers have some serious dirt on Ferguson's personal life and he's therefore unwilling to do anything other than support them.

There are one or two hints of the possible nature of the dirt in The Boss by Michael Crick, stories which date back decades.

Kagawa will be effective as a playmaker, but a central holding player would be ideal, if any still exist.

Isn't it just the usual "it's football, there must be a personal life story behind it" bollocks?

You think I'm defending Ferguson?

isn't it possible that ferguson just means this, and not for the first time, is just being a cunt.

Think about it. He has a pretty sweet deal at old trafford. They pay him a hell of a lot of money. He has total freedom to do whatever the hell he likes, and he likes to do a lot. He has everything set up just so, so the the whole thing kind of runs itself. The glazers give him a fairly substantial wage and transfer budget by english, and world standards. It's less than half of the clubs turnover, but that's still a hell of a lot of money.

It's not as much as it might be, but it seems to be enough. he's been more successful under the glazers than at any other time in his career, and he's just unfortunate that this exceptional barcelona team came along in the middle, just as he was getting the upper hand on chelsea.

maybe he actually means it and is being a cunt. you have to understand that he is a very selfish man and is only looking at it from his point of view, and he's pretty happy. Everyone else is the enemy. At least he's being consistent.

Well, in his latest glowing testimony to Glazer Power, he did allow for the legitimacy of differing opinions on ownership. "There's nothing wrong with that", were the words he used.

Of course, from his perspective all is peachy, as TAB points out. He might be mistaken, but I wouldn't expect him to publicly diss Huey, Louie and Dewey and their Lex Luthor dad.

He probably has a picture of Rock Of Gibraltar in his downstairs toilet to help to focus his thoughts when he retires there to consider whether, on the whole, this Glazer thing is still working out for him.

I watched some of the friendly against shanghai shenhua, and Tony C's old pupil jesse lingard was very impressive. he was a relatively peripheral figure in the team that won the FA youth cup in 2010-11, but over the last season has apparently made quite a name for himself, and given united's unwillingness to spend money, he could have a very real chance of making it into the first team.

The game itself was a terrible game, and only a preseason friendly, (bebe looked amazing, so draw your own conclusions) but he looked like a really intelligent player, one who plays with his head up and has great close control, it was a very mature performance. On two occasions he played a one-two to get into space in front of the box, and on both occasions he shaped to cut inside, but slid it through for the full back to get to the endline. he's a very good pass and move footballer, and very calm. on the other hand He is a bit small though.
