Am I too cynical in thinking that this is a a first step in FPP avoidance for Bournemouth?

What do the sponsors do exactly? When you google them all that comes up is this story.

Why? Have you changed your allegiances to Crawley now that Cardiff have gone down the pan?

Well if Sheffield Utd are one of the supposed better teams in the league then Salop have nothing to fear.

Terribly frustrating, deserved a point at least.

OK Rick, glad you have not sold your soul.

Have you chosen a temporary club to follow as you have lost yours?

rick has, of course, been having a long term affair with QPR for years and, now that he has divorced, will not commit to his mistress

A pleasing performance coupled with what was a toothless Orient, especially up front where they barely threatened even after their tails were up after a somewhat soft penalty gave them a consolation followed by a surprising amount of injury time.

Both Wallace and Palmer in the centre of midfield looked comfortable on the ball, with Wallace carrying on his good form from last season although Orient were guilty of sitting off them so it came as no surprise that they controlled the tempo of the game for long periods.

Gibson, apart from the penalty, was impressive at the back and I hope that Ronnie can tempt him and Boro to stay at Rovers beyond the initial one month deal. As a unit, Rovers looked assured without Goodison, which is something of a blessing as his recent knee-op could raise some concerns about whether we'll see him a Tranmere shirt again. That said, there'll be sterner tests to come than what Orient had to offer.

Wasn't sure about Akpa-Akpro, especially as he was subdued first half but his movement improved in the second half and his first goal was a thing of beauty. He's like a rather chunky winger rather than an out-and-out front-man although he showed a striker's instinct to get on the end of the superb Wallace's cross for his second goal at a point when Rovers threatened to run riot. Cassidy was also quiet, but his first touch and lay-off for Zoum's goal was a moment of class. He also did well here last season although it may take him a while to click with Akpa-Akpro, who is a different quantity to the now-departed Showunmi.

Only Thompson on the right wing failed to convince as he looks quick yet did not get past his man at any stage today and even when presented with the chance to cross seemed to prefer the lay-off. Given that Akins had more of a physical presence and could feed of the high ball that bit better then a change of service may see an improvement in Thompson.

All in all, a dream start.

So them losing 5-0 at home to Swansea would have been extremely painful for him.

i was at gigg lane for bury v brentford. It was a very warm day although as we were sat in the shade i don't think we appreciated how warm it was, so when the players stopped for a drinks break in the first half, the crowd gave them some stick for being " a load of poofters" etc (keep homophobia out of football still has not made a big impact in league one)

but as the sun dropped and our shade become full sun, i realised it was a tough call to run about.

brentford are tipped as outsiders for a play-off/promotion push, but bury are widely marked as relegation fodder so a draw was ok for the home team, but really both sides need to get some finishing practise. Any time half a chance came, the player would need 3 or 4 touches to control (looking at you Mark Cullen...)

Bury had a pacy slightly built forward (Hughes) and so played a deliberate passing slow build up which was no use to him at all. only when hughes went off and lumbering meat mountain John-Lewis came on did they start to play neat fast through balls. which was equally no good to him

A bit of excitement in the 90th minute when Bury thought they deserved a penalty after a perfectly good tackle but other than that it was a typical 0-0.

once again well done to the gigg lane social club for meat and potato pie washed down with a couple of pints of thwaites while watching leeds v wolves on the big screen.

Well I expected a bit more steel than that from Orient, after watching our robust - if hardly pretty - win at Charlton in the credit card junkmail cup. But it seems same old same old at the back, plus less passing. Ho hum.

Russell Slade must have one of the worst opening-day records of any manager. He's not won a first game of the season since he was at Scarborough more than a decade ago.

I might pop down to see The O's on Tuesday. Do you still have a Supporter's Club bar, E10?

Indeed.

Weird atmosphere on our bus home afterwards. Didn't feel like a defeat at all.

Were you the guy in the WSC t-shirt I said 'Respect' to on the way out, Nick?

Yeovil's away win at Brentford caught the eye but not as much as Tranmere's Andy Robinson inspired win over Carlisle, meaning that we are top of the league at least until we take on the Shrews on Saturday. With a nice train trip and a folk festival (so I hear), seems too good an opportunity to miss.

Brentford have fought back to1-1 against Yeovil and get a penalty. New signing Paul Hayes has just come on as sub and with his first kick for the club, misses it. Yeovil go on to win 3-1. It's going to be that sort of season.
