Lincoln are raising cash for new players by asking fans to pay 50 quid for the right to re-name Sincil Bank after their company or person for 12 months. Won't be me as the payment system won't accept my credit cards. If you win you can also opt to leave it as Sincil Bank, which you can only hope will be the final outcome of this scene.

Anyway, I doubt Lincoln will be challenging, and the best we can hope for is a better standard of safety than last season. Judging from the old thread, Luton and Mansfield appear to be the early tips for promotion.

Given that this is now effectively Division 5, why is there no shout for four up, four down? Not that I was in favour of that when Lincoln were still D4.

[edit: should point out it's a lottery - you can't get the naming rights just by phoning up for 50 quid alone. Not yet.]

Lots of love from the Conference for four up/four down, usually from ex-league clubs who hadn't realised how difficult this league was to get out of. The Football league aren't going to buy it though. They get to dump all their shit into non-league, like some lazy cunt dumping his old sofa down a quiet country lane.
There is a proposal at the moment for three up/three down right now and, surprisingly, it has got the backing of Tony Kleanthaus at Barnet, but it'll take a hell of a lot more persuasion, and probably a nice fat parachute payment, before the rest of the turkeys in the Football League vote for Christmas.

I might chuck in £50 for a chance at that. I can think of about two hundred and seventy names for Sincil Bank, and at least eight of them aren't libelous or obscene in some way.

I had to google "Sincil Bank" and was relieved it was not a money/finance bank. Hope it stays Sincil Bank.

The Lincolnshire Echo Stand looks extremely steep.

Like Lincoln, unfortunately we're selling naming rights too, and should do a bit better albeit without being anywhere near the promotion race.

Increasing the promotion places has been one of the close season discussions on the message board, but a more popular topic seems to be let the Conference become League Three. Can't help but think both, especially the latter, are an exercise in feeling better about our predicament.

I think I might bid for naming rights and if I win call it "Sincl Bank".

Not corporate, but enough to annoy lots of people in the most petty way possible.

I was thinking "Cinsil Bank", on a similar petty, annoying theme.

If I win, I will keep it as Sincil Bank, but demand they change it to Tinsel Bank during the month of December, and wrap the stands in lots of lovely red and white striped Xmas decor.

Lots of talk about renaming SB as The Keith Alexander Stadium. Strong chance that any individual punter who wins the lottery will do this. But it's going to be a corporate winner, and we're going to end up with the Samuels and Sons Plant and Machinery Movements (incorporating SGK Haulage) Stadium aren't we?

Now, The Vacsol SR Timber Premium Gold Roofing Battens Arena has got a ring to it, definitely.

Bath City did this and everyone hoped it was going to stay as Twerton Park but it is now the Mayday Trust Park. To be fair, it is a charity, I think, but I am not sure that a recently relegated club wants 'Mayday' in their stadium name

The Stones did this a couple of years back and, theoretically, the Vale was called St. Georges (after a shopping centre in Harrow). I'm not sure that anyone took any notice.

Quite a few want to re-name it The Keith Alexander Stadium.

I'm not 100% sure but I think if a company wins the draw the stadium will be titled 'Company Name @ Sincil Bank Stadium'. The Board doing their best to appease fans. There was talk last year about relocation in the non too distant future so to improve the facilities for conferences and such. Expect that will have to wait until we get back into the Football League.

Newport County have signed Jefferson Louis. He was excellent for us at the end of last season.

I presume that's why we got rid of him - the only way excellence is rewarded at Sincil Bank. You're excellent? Sorry son, you won't fit in here, best be on yer way.

Well I expect he was offered more money at Newport. Holdsworth has got very little money to play with and it appears Danny Lloyd will be off elsewhere shortly too.

Ha. HA! I just popped in to ask what we might expect now Louis has swapped views of Lincoln Cathedral for the Transporter Bridge and you've used the word "excellent".

We'll soon drum that out of him.

20th April is an early finish isn't it?

Hyde is a much better Boxing Day/New Year double header than last season's. However we got the two Kent away games on successive Saturdays which is a shame.

Strangely, we don't play Dartford home or away until the 36th game. I wondered how common this was, and saw that Southport and Forest Green don't meet until game 39, likewise Macclesfield & Woking.

I've only just seen this thread. Your idea is superb, imp, but rather un-you. You're supposed to be grumpy all the time, aren't you? That's your thing.

How would the people of Lincoln react to the Hand Of Pod Stadium? Only my parents recently gave me £50 to take my girlfriend out for a meal to celebrate their (my parents') 30th wedding anniversary, and I reckon that'd be a far better use of it...

Clay Cross Town ran a similar competition to Lincoln City. A tattoo parlour won the raffle and their ground will be called "The Devil Made Me Do It ground" from next season.
