I find the idea of Joey Barton in Marseille rather enchanting.

Barton to Marseilles...? Blimey, it's either going to be a catastrophy or a Reverse-Cantona thing...

@jim

Me too. In fact I'd find the idea of Joey Barton anywhere except Shepherds Bush enchanting.

According to Mbia's Wiki page:

"His penis is known to drop out of his shorts as he runs so he has to tape it to his leg."

There's an entire thread there isn't there?

In Barton's case you can see the penis above the shorts.
I presume if he went to France his ban would no longer apply?

The Song to Barcelona story is very strange. He's reasonable but that's all he is, and certainly a long way behind their usual standard of central midfielder.

In all but one of Arsenal's numerous meetings with Barca in recent seasons, he's spent pretty much the entire game chasing shadows (albeit he had to fill in at centre-back in one of them).

Maybe centre-back is where they see him playing. Perhaps a replacement for Puyol.

Looks like weve given up on Fletcher from Wolves. Saha already in and another typical "MO'N style forriner from a PL club forward" is 99% nailed on to arrive today.
Also a LB from Lyon is said to be in advanced talks which will allow Keiron Richardson his move back down to the SE.

Looks like £2.4m and a million quid a year wages, which if he plays well could be a bargain.
He can't possibly be worse than SFD.

He could be another Nabil El Zhar for all we know about him.

Anyway, I'm just hoping and waiting to see if the rumour of Nuri Sahin's impending loan arrival is true - that would be a signing that actually makes me want to go and watch a match at Anfield again.

Even El Zhar was better than SFD though.

In other news, blimey!

I think I'd need to see this before I believed it. Gaston Ramirez chooses Southampton over Spurs and Liverpool.
if it's true, nice work Southampton. he's a very good player.

Apparently any interest Liverpool had in Ramirez died when Comolli went.

Mark Hughes has confirmed we're close to signing José Bosingwa.

We've just signed Cristian Montaño from West Ham. For real money and everything. Almost unheard of.

For the first time in years our left back and left winger will be actual left-footed players, rather than right wingers or midfielders played out of position. It's so exciting I think I need a lie down.

Bosingwa confirmed and presented.

He's never been the same player since his injury 3 seasons ago, losing a lot of the pace that defined him at Porto as a key creative force as well as a defensive rock. But he's still a great right-back and QPR have done well to get him.

Whatever else he may be Tony Fernandes is one heck of a salesman.

I think this might be it -- they've already converted one defensive midfielder into a CB in Mascherano and Song seems to be even more of a natural fit, as he's quite a bit bigger and has some experience playing in that role. Of course they're very big on playing the ball out of the back and Song would certainly fit into that mold.

But why go to all that trouble? Song was destroyed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic when Barca played at the Emirates three years ago, and has spent only a tiny percentage of his career in that position.

Why don't Barca just look for an actual centre-back who isn't inept in possession? The planet isn't teeming with them but they do exist.

If Barcelona have 20M to spend, I think they'll get joy if they offer it to Liverpool for Daniel Agger.

Anyone know much about Michu, apart from 15 goals in La Liga last season? I'm in a FL bidding war for him with three other managers

Has looked impressive in pre season and can play as both an attacking midfielder or striker, if he clicks as looks likely from pre-season, then expect a comfortable mid season placing for Swansea.

Two on his debut, did you buy him?
