I have the tiniest suspicion that that might be a mock-up, you know.

Apparently green was deemed unlucky as it was the same colour as the grass and was difficult for team mates to see each other.

A nice tidbit of information from the short (but worthwhile if you're interested in this subject) book Picking up the Threads: www.amazon.co.uk/Picking-Up-Threads-Colo...517&sr=8-1-fkmr1

.... is that brown kits were banned by the FA until relatively recently due to the amount of mud players used to become caked in, making it difficult to determine teams from one another.

Eh? Surely if you are so caked in mud that teams are indistinguishable from each other then having one team in the base colour of brown makes no difference, does it?

Oh no, I'm sure it represents the actual shirt. It's just that it's an artist's impression.

He doesn't look like any mechanic I've ever dealt with.

Well, the dress (and halo) are unconventional, but the creeper he's holding is a pretty basic piece of kit.

The new Wales away kit is a bit Liverpool 95/96;

Yes, this is a child/Earnshaw size.

Are indoor trees a common occurrence in Wales?

David Icke would have a field day with that badge. Clearly the favoured football club of the Illuminati.

This is resourceful. Certainly a better solution than the likes of Wonga.

I wonder if they've always played in repurposed Palermo shirts or if the sponsor also chose the colours.

I don't know, but I'm guessing the latter. It's too much of a coincidence otherwise.

It's St Mike, patron saint of Mechanics.

Image taken in his living years, no doubt.

One of the lower-league German teams did this recently as well. I think they had to pull the plug when it upset the other sponsors. I'll have to look it up.

Edit: I half-remembered it, it was a Bavarian ice-hockey team, the Landshut Cannibals.

That shirt is amazing. Wrecking-ball design of a very high order.

Brown is genuinely rare in football.

Brown is also rare on national flags. Colours like red, white and blue, which are both 'pure' and 'unnatural', have traditionally been preferred as insignia and tribal identifiers. Brown was associated with earth and dirt — and by extension with lesser species such as worms, women and the swarthy savage races.

I've often thought it was funny that St. Pauli, with its overtly anti-fascist identity and fanbase, wear brown shirts.

Well they've not always been anti-fascist. They were well in line with the Nazis and only became the anti-fascist alternative when people started leaving HSV is disgust at their right wing following. Before that St. Pauli were a small conservativ club for grumpy old men.
