Should be an interesting game tomorrow, with the local press banging on about a Yorkshire Derby, though the natural derbies would be Bradford and Wednesday I would think. Not Leeds obviously, as we all know that their big derby game is of course Man Utd...

Huddersfield to nick it in extra time 2-1 I think

Bye-bye League One - we won't miss you at all.

Congrats CTT.

Well done, Hudders. You've finally managed to sneak out, even if it was an awful playoff final. For purely selfish reasons I'm glad Blades stayed down for another year, but I'll be shocked if you don't easily get a top-two spot next year.

I know there's a couple of fans of the Busy Bees of Brentford on here, so I was wondering if you'd heard that Hermanicus Germanicus (or Uwe Roslër as he's otherwise known) has been linked with the vacant manager's position at Hull City?

I don't like us poaching managers, as the last 2 times we've done it we've ended up with Fat Jan Molby and Phil "errrrrr" Parkinson.

Humble apologies should it happen, and that.

Thanks for alerting me to this. Is there any more substance to the rumour than the City Independent article? You do realise that 'turning the Bees around' means finishing 9th, up from 10th in the previous season?

However, there's been a big improvement in the style of football if not yet the results and, for once, Bees fans are rather looking forward to next season. There's some good things happening behind the scenes at Brentford and I'd like to think Uwe would want to stay to finish the job.

His odds in the betting shot in to 3-1 yesterday, whether that was on the back of that article or not I'm not sure. The same thing happened with Steve Bruce last week, and we're not very reliably informed that he's no longer in the running.

Greg Abbott's name is the only one that refuses to go away completely, mind.

I've not seen or heard this mentioned anywhere either. What Uwe's tried to do this past season has been impressive, but he hasn't, yet, been successful in implementing it.

Talking of departing Germans, I was disappointed to see Marcel Eger leave this last week. He looked decent enough but couldn't seem to force a consistent place in the side.

Congratulations CTT, thanks for the various thoughts upthread, ghastly weekend, as expected.

Can't say I'm surprised that Simonsen has been released today, there's a guy that's had a bad few days. Worryingly, McCabe was on the website less than 24 hours after the defeat saying we would need to cut the wage bill but we weren't looking to sell Maguire and Lowton. This, of course is Blades speak for; Bloody hell have they gone already.

Doubtless others will go as well, the most likely one being Quinn who has the ability to hold his own in a lower PL team. We, in the meantime, will be left with Montgomery, Morgan, Cresswell etc. who all still have a year left to run on the ridiculous contracts Blackwell dished out to them a month before he was sacked - no one in their right mind will take them off our hands. Hey-ho at least Crewe will be a nice away day I've never managed before.

Don't forget Crawley...

Thank's for that, nothing like kicking a guy when he's down.

Heh, at least you won't have to face Steve fucking Evans...

True, very true, very public spirited of your boys to take him.

I was vaguely amused today with the headlines about us not renewing Ched's contract - what the hell did anyone think we would do?

Sack him as soon as he was convicted?

I think that given the pressured situation we found ourselves in at the end of the season and the fact that he was in the last month of his contract anyway it was the most likely outcome.

For a few hours today our official website was plugging "exciting news". Which turned out to be the signing of a 19-year-old defender from Sheffield United reserves who hasn't played a single league game.

He's also Connor Brown, the lovely chap who supported Ched Evans by abusing (and possibly naming) his victim, and who was suspended as a result.

Nice to see we're making a classy signing there.
