Manchester's debate on foreign ownership

ImageThe impact of overseas owners in English football clubs is keenly felt in Manchester. Both United and City have been the subject of foreign investment in the past decade – and FC United of Manchester was formed due to the Glazer takeover. As part of the Manchester Histories Festival, a debate on the issue will be held tonight at 6:30pm in Manchester Town Hall. Entrance is free and the panel includes Ian Stirling (Man Utd supporters' trust), Andy Walsh (a founder of FC Utd) and Dave Wallace (a former fan on the board of Man City). The festival continues tonight with a play about Bert Trautmann at 8.30pm and a talk by Gary James about the history of the city's clubs. For more information click here
