19 May ~ UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations will be phased in over a three-year period from June 1, 2011. While the overall intention of these new rules is to ensure the game's long-term stability, Michel Platini has also maintained that the initiative is for the benefit of the football spectator. "Supporters and lovers of football have no interest in seeing clubs that are part of European football's heritage disappear as a result of hazardous management. It was necessary for an authority to intervene, and this is what we are doing." With this in mind the University Of Chemnitz (in association with Football Supporters Europe and Supporters Direct) is canvassing fan perception and opinion across the 53 national associations of Europe, and all findings will be presented to UEFA.
