Martin O'Neill is a genius ~

Don't ask me why but I really like Marlon Harewood. One stupidest decisions that Eriksson made while managing England, I feel, was to take media darling Theo Walcott to EC2006. Obviously, there was a better case for Bent but I don't have a bizarre crush on Bent.

At the time, Harewood had had a great first season in the EPL and, I feel, had he been gone with the England squad, he would have been more effective than Walcott (as would Bent) but, more importantly to me, it would have given him a great deal of experience that would have probably helped him have a better second season than he did possibly even leading to an earlier transfer to a bigger club.

Of course, we know what happened to England, which I don't give a shit about, and we know that Harewood hasn't exactly pulled up any trees since.

On the face of it, I am making a ludicrous suggestion given his stats in the last couple of seasons and the fact that he isn't a regular starter this season but, even though he is 28, I have been impressed by him when I have seen him this season and still think that O'Neill could get a lot out of him as long as he hasn't signed him as some sort of Carew tribute act.

I shall now don my tin hat and retreat to cover so as not to hear the hyena-like braying.
