Jimmy Greenhoff ~

In a way that perhaps only Shoot readers of a certain generation (ie old bastards like me) would appreciate I was blown away to meet Alun Evans a few years back. He was sort of the Rooney of his generation, in terms of expectation at least. When I met him he was a house painter doing occasional radio work. He did not seem bitter – just glad to have enjoyed a decent career. Contrarily I know a lovely guy who is a goalkeeper who played about four games for Leeds and is millionaire. Didn't Stanley Matthews have to dig graves in the off season to pay the bills or was that all a myth?
