F**k you Big Four ~ Sadly, I do suspect that the ousting of the "Big Four" has more to do with their own, albeit creeping and subconscious, indifference to the FA Cup. In recent years, they've been accused of not taking the competition seriously and yet utterly dominated it at the same time. This year, however, with Liverpool pretty certain to join the other three in the quarter-finals, there has been a shift. We could be on the verge of a later 70s/early 80s type period where English clubs were routinely dominant in the European Cup. Bigger fish and all that.
So Arsenal, once they went a couple down early on at Old Trafford made a field decision – fuck it, let's forfeit this, we've got Milan next week. Chelsea strolled around yesterday in sullen contempt. They lost 1-0 to Barnsley. Were they bovvered? The answer appeared to be "none".
And Manchester United – actually, this is where my theory breaks down. They were desperate to win. They should have won. But somehow the silly fuckers didn't. And now I'm going to have to go and find an aisle to roll in just at the recollection of Michael Carrick on the goal line...
