4 December 2009 ~ Hartley Sebag-ffiennes used the WSC messageboard to explain Arsène Wenger's behaviour It pains me to read in the yellow press, or via the vulgar medium of transistor radio, reports on M. Wenger's refusal to shake hands with his opposite number, Hughes of Manchester City and aspersions cast to the effect that this represented a lack of sportsmanship or even common courtesy on the part of the eminent Alsatian. What these ill-bred disc jockeys and Grub Street scriveners fail to grasp, however, is far from displaying ill grace, M. Wenger and his young charges actually showed exquisite tact last Wednesday evening. Permit me to explain in terms that even the veriest neophyte in matters of sporting delicacy might comprehend.
