Barney Ronay was born and raised in south-east London. He began reading WSC as a callow and awkward teenager in 1989 and started writing for it in 2002 as a callow and awkward adult. He writes about football for the Guardian and has also written and edited various books about football, including Any Chance Of A Game?, and helped to compile WSC's compelling football encyclopaedia The Half Decent Football Book.
