When I was five years old I watched a few games in the 1970 World Cup and decided I didn’t care how England got on – I wanted to become like Rivelino, the moustachioed Brazilian midfield player who single-handedly invented the banana shot. There are just two things to remember. "Os tres dedos" is with the outside of the foot. The "banana shot" is with the instep.
