Well, his constant berating of the officials for a start. He might avoid red cards, but he spends the whole game winding up the referee. What effect do you imagine that has on the dynamic of the game and of the referees view of incidents?
I think this, like his sly fouling, is a way of seeking to gain a tactical advantage for his team and is the sort of thing that comes from cold pragmatism rather than a hot headed overreaction to decisions he does not like - as I said before that one Man United game was a notable exception.
We seem to agree he gets away with stuff, so his badgering of the referees is not causing said referees to overreact to incidents he is involved in, it's exactly the opposite isn't it.
Insua may not be wanted, but as for the rest leaving it seems like Woy's trying to prevent unnecessary ridicule. Reading out a teamsheet with names including Maschewano, Wodwiguez and Wiewa would have meant the Liverpool dressing room looking like the balcony scene from The Life Of Brian. No wonder he was considering weleasing Towwes.
I think you might be in for a bit of a shock this season.
It'll be a shock to me if we finish in the top 6 this season.
But Everton's squad better? I'd take Arteta. And maybe Jagielka.

I'd take Reina, Torres and maybe Gerrard, although I'd stick him in his best position at right-back.

You'd turn down Rodwell? Cahill? Pienaar? You could also do with Baines and Bilyaletdinov given your current options in those positions.
Anyway, I thought the WC reiterated that the strength of a squad overall is not just about the best few individuals.
Baines is awful. Bilayaletdinov I don't really know much about. Cahill a horrid little scrote who makes $tevie Me look like a likable bloke and Pienaar is quick but a poor decision maker.

Baines isn't awful. He lacks a bit of confidence and was hung out to dry by Gerrard in his last England game, but in tandem with Pienaar he looks a real threat. I'd certainly prefer him to Luke Young, a right-footed left-back who was kept out of the side at his previous club by a mediocre centre-back.
Pienaar, along with Arteta, Fellaini, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines and Rodwell, would improve Liverpool's starting XI.
In terms of a squad of 25, Cahill, Bilayaletdinov, Saha, Yakubu, Yobo, Coleman, Hibbert, Neville and Howard would all get in.
I think even the fringe players like Anichebe and Beckford would do a better job as back-up strikers than Ngog, Babel and El Zhar.
Admittedly, just perusing the Liverpool squad list there are a number of players I have never heard of let alone seen play, so there may be some hidden gems out there who are being kept out of the side by the likes of Ngog and Babel.

I forgot about Fellaini and didn't mention Coleman as he's not broken through yet but I think he's going to have a great season if Everton give him the starts.
I've only just read about Luke Young's potential move, I think that puts some perspective on the kind of players Liverpool's supporters can afford to be sniffy about.
I'm assuming (hoping) Luke Young is being brought in to be cover for a first choice as we've got rid of all 3 left-backs.
Still each to their own. Fellaini is a thug who's occasionally decent in the air, but gives little else.
To my mind Arteta is the only one who'd improve the starting 11. In a 25 I'd take Saha I suppose if he could stay fit for more that 3 minutes and maybe Yakubu. Apart from them, not at all. Cavalieri is as good as Howard (who is a fifth of the keeper Reina is) and Phil Neville? Even if he was as good as Maradona, I wouldn't have him in our squad.
