If so, I can't find it.

Ajax turned down a €12 Million offer from Everton for Jan Vertonghen yesterday. Liverpool are also expected to possibly, maybe, make a higher bid for the same player.

The rumors around Manchester United and Luis Suarez are indeed true, according to Jack van Gelder on last night's Studio Voetbal. However the bid of 23 million is not much more than half of Ajax's alleged valuation.

Ajax's C.F.O. told a shareholders meeting that they would not consider any offer below 40 million. So expect a sale at around 30 mill I should think.

Is luis Suarez really good enough TPC? All I really know about him is that he scores a lot of goals, and most people think he's a bit of an arsehole.

judge for yourself

maybe the trick of buying a left-footed belgian defender whose name begins with VER from ajax who signed him from germinal beerschot will be a brilliant success two years in a row, but i hope not because if anyone signs him it won't be liverpool.

£24 million for Milner I can sort of understand. But I'd like anyone to explain £21 million for David Luiz. Not contesting that he's a good player. But £21 million?

Man Utd to pay 30 million euros for Suarez, you say? Oh dear. Fergie almost never gets it right when he spends big on a player- Van Nistelrooy is the only exception I can think of.

Luiz' buyout clause is 45 million, Benfica purportedly are asking for 35 million, and the City bid is supposedly already up to 25 million.

It looks better if you compare it with what they spent on Lescott, but they were supposed to have learned something from that.

Marca also seem certain that Barca will sign David Villa for 42 million euro.

Ferdinand? Rooney? Andy Cole was a British transfer record at the time. Ronaldo wasn't exactly cheap. Was Roy Keane a transfer record between British clubs at the time?

I wonder which clever fishes will be following the Real Madrid trawler waiting for choice morsels to be thrown overboard prematurely.

Man United have been linked with a cut price Benzema and I think he would be a good signing for them. Now that odious Marseille have actually won something I expect them to be back at their pompous and preening best, I could see them wanting a high profile signing like Benzema to announce their general bigness and regardless of whether they need him or not.

Van der Vaart will move on this year, Benitez seemed interested in him at Liverpool and he would be cheap.

Someone has to find a home for Royston Drenthe this year too surely.

OM still have serious ownership issues linked to the Louis-Dreyfus estate, and I don't think that they will be spending that kind of money, especially as they will expect Bordeaux to be weakened by Blanc's departure.

You might also add Kaka to your list of Madrid rejects, though all bets are likely off if Mourinho ends up there.

According to The Star, Sir Alex Ferguson wants to sign Rogelio Funes Mori, of River Plate. He scored a hat trick against Racing in the derby a week and a half ago, and they were the first goals he'd scored in 2010. He got another on Saturday in a truly odd game (I was there) that finished 5-1 to Tigre, who'd gone 3-0 up after 16 minutes and were 5-0 up at half time.

His stats so far for River: 5 goals in 18 matches. I think he'd be far, far better off staying where he is for another year. I hope he doesn't go to Manchester United, either way...

I think Verthongen is at least as good as Thomas Vermaelen and has the advantage of being a couple of inches taller. (Or three inches taller, depending on which statistic on Vermaelen's height you believe.) He plays center back for Ajax and DM for the Rode Duivels.

Ajax say they want €20 Million for him, which probably means they will settle for about 14 as usual. I think he's worth that money if you've got it.

Gregory van der Wiel isn't though.

Van der Vaart will move on this year, Benitez seemed interested in him at Liverpool and he would be cheap.

Despite what T.G. says I think v.d.Vaart is a very good player. however the problem for English clubs may be his wife. Silvie may need continuing cancer treatment, and Rafael has said that the quality of the cancer treatment available will be one of the defining factors of any move.

Secondly she has a burgeoning German T.V. career, currently she's on the German version of 'Strictly.." and is a judge on one of those many singing talent shows.
