Melbourne Victory had 5 goals disallowed for offside in last night's 1-1 draw with Jeju. Is this a world record? It didn't matter in the end because Gamba Osaka won but 1 of the decisions was definitely wrong and 2 were borderline.

4 games in a row unbeaten for Victory in the ACL but they still finished last.

Those Uzbeki linesmen should audition for jobs in the A League- where incorrect offside calls are par for the course....

No, he lost his first game at home to Jeju.

Celtic are coming in July for a 3 game tour - CCM, Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory.

Surprisingly, the Victory game is at AAMI Park.

According to Michael Lynch in The Age there are now 4 candidates for the Melbourne Victory coaching job – Mehmet Durakovic and 3 others who have made the final interview stage. Two are English and one is Irish but Lynch says the Irishman is not Roy Keane.

Does he care about the A-League? I thought the SBS crowd were too busy undermining the FFA at every opportunity (and to be fair that's every day at the moment) and waxing lyrical about how shit British Football is compared to mainland Europe and South America.

w1f, I think Fossie may deign to watch the A-League occasionally but the signs are confusing (such as his early approval for Lavicka-ball, which wouldn't be based purely on passport, would it?)

In other FFA news, another stunning disregard for "old soccer" here, with the Australia Cup found in a dumpster outside the Hakoah Club.

I know it's over 40 years since anyone competed for it, but as the "first nationwide club tournament played in Australia" you'd think it would have some meaning and be something the code could use as a pointer to its long-held legitimacy in this country.

I was as happy as anyone with the razing to the ground that needed to occur in 2003/4, but the FFA's really failed to find the right balance between not wanting to repeat history's mistakes and pissing all over everything from before the overhaul.

As expected, Marvin Angulo has returned to Costa Rica at the end of his loan deal. I wonder if an MLS club might go after him.

Two other departures from Victory - Michael Petkovic has retired and Football Superstar winner Luke Pilkington has been released after 3 appearances in 2 years.

One might indeed. Everyone's already scouting frantically for the transfer window, both for perceived needs and praying no one gets injured during Gold Cup.

Fred's firmly anchored to DC's bench at the moment, btw.

That report about the Australia Cup being thrown away by the Hakoah Club is a bit vague and second hand.... doesn't say whether it was thrown away accidentally, or give any details of why both the FFA and Hakoah club had "no interest" in it subsequently.

I'd be as keen as anyone for having a go at the FFA for not honouring Australia's football history pre-2004... but there is possibly more to this story than this rather vague account tells us. Sydney Hakoah won the Australia Cup twice- you would think they would be keen to keep it!
