Adelaide will be looking for a new coach as Aurelio Vidmar is to take over the Graham Arnold position as Token Local Socceroos Coaching Staff Member (i.e. he's to be Assistant Coach) and as Olyroos coach.

As far as local coaches is concerned, I think he's a good choice.

In other news, rumours seem to indicate the the mooted new buyers for the club have pulled out, continuing what has not been a good recession for the A-League. I'll wait on Trimster for more on this one.

Verbeek and Vidmar will get on well since neither of them seems to like forwards very much.

Yeah, that's the asterisk next to Vidmar.

Happily, he's not going to overlap with the Pimster as he comes in after the WC. Hopefully whoever comes in as his next boss can help him develop the offensive arts of the game.

Yeah, the Alan Young consortium pulled out of the AU ownership deal yesterday. They more or less said that they didn't fancy losing a whole lot of money, and the FFA made it impossible for potential owners to break even...no-one else has sprang to the rescue, either.

Reaction of many fans to the Vidmar news: "let's hope we get a proper coach, and not a Stubbins-Mullen partnership."

Personally, I'm not sorry to see Vidmar go. His system made it impossible for centre forwards to ply their trade, and I like watching centre forwards score goals....And his quirky, enigmatic responses to some situations was beginning to irritate. God knows what he will make of the Olyroos.

To MA: have you been to the bubble dome yet? It looks like a nice ground, and it's somewhat endearing to see Melburnians coo over how a rectangular ground works so well for the rectangular games. Bless!

I don't intend going before August 14 – the first home against Perth Glory. I really can't be arsed with overpriced friendlies. It does look good:

Season ticket purchased for Sydney FC, hopefully the new additions will continue Lavicka's total football and victorious first season in charge.

Same as above for games really, a mix of mid week, Saturday and Sunday games so it will be interesting to see if the crowds pick up a bit.

MV at home for the opening game, a decent start for the boys in blue is needed but a tough game for both. I'm looking forward to the Heart away game in November, the new stadium will be cool by the look of things.

Heart vs CCM on a Thursday night, again the big kick off may be a big letdown!

I wonder if I was the only person to do a double take reading that. I can't imagine how bad Bromley's football must be.

Rumours here that Dave Mitchell will replace Vidmar. He skated around questions last night and most certainly did not deny it.

Why would Mitchell want to move from a team that's just played finals to one that's just got the wooden spoon?

No-one here seems to believe that Mitchell will be the next Adelaide coach. Okon and Littbarski have been mentioned....

Following the rapturous reception he received from a near sell out crowd at last month's emotional testimonial, Kevin Muscat has signed on for another season admitting he is particularly motivated by the prospect of playing against those bastards Melbourne Heart. Kevin, who will be 37 on the day of Victory's first league game of 2010/11, has also signed on for the 2011 Asian Champions League which, with Victory's track record in that competition, should extend his career by about a fortnight.

The story has died off here to. The Glory CEO was dismissive of it at a local game on Saturday.

I think I'm going to go for 'those bastards' Heart as they play in Red and White stripes like Exeter. They'll be crap, of course. But I'm used to that.

Melbourne Heart have reportedly reached 3,000 membership sales - more than NQF or GCU managed last season. I don't know how many have switched from Victory but Victory's figures are well below previous years at this stage.

Heart are making a big push for support in Geelong, hometwown of Josip Skoko - they held a 3 day football festival there this week and got Sleepy Hollow's most famous resident onboard.

Any word on how well he acquitted himself, MA? We're going to need some fresh blood for the 2014 tilt. I recall reading that his old man was pretty good at over 35's soccer.

I do like that Heart kit. It looks like a proper football kit.

Mori, it seems, is one of about twenty applicants.
