The existing definition's fine.

It's fine in the sense that the clue was perfectly gettable, and I certainly didn't mean to be too critical of it. But I don't think that "Californian" is a reasonable definition of "Lodi", any more than "British" is a reasonable definition of Whitehaven. A "Californian" is, if anythning, a person - it would have to be "Californian city" or similar to be a reasonable definition. "Idol", on the other hand, while vague, works as a definition of "calf".
