So impressive was Pollard's hitting, that though Guyana are 14 ahead of where Mumbai were with 5 overs to go, they are basically out of it.

Especially now that Sarwan is gone.

Pollard may just be the most valuable 20/20 player in the world right now.

Even if they win, Mumbai still may not qualify, though.

I like Freddie so it's not out of disrespect when I suggest that this is an announcement that barely needed making.

First, yes I think Pollard is probably the best T20 player in the world. bowling, fielding and of course destructive batting, he's top drawer at them all. If he hadn't been hit in the eye by Dominic Cork in the T20 final, he would have bowled and fielded and I think we would have won instead of tieing and losing on wickets lost.

And so to today... we tied on points with Notts, and lost on most games Won. Which is fair enough to decide the title.

It's a horrible thing though to watch unfold, all week we were edging ahead and thinking maybe, surely, possibly, unlikely and then Benkenstein was too stubborn, and the likes of Chanderpaul who is supposed to be one of the most immovable batsman in the world produced that shit.

Lancs rolled over against us last week, so I can't get too vexed, but really what the fuck was that? conceding over 300 runs in no time adn then collapsing to lose 3 wickets in less than 5 overs on the same wicket.

Peter Moores one of the powerhouses of English cricketing intelligence? Do me a favour. Kevin Pietersen was right to think he's a cock.

Somerset, best overall team in the country, just hope they don't lose on Saturday and become the first team to complete a treble runner up season.

A long-suffering Somerset friend of mine was at Chester-le-Street, and can barely speak.

It's not the despair, it's the hope.

CHAMPIONES, CHAMPIONES, OLE, OLE, OLE
What a fucking thrilling ride. I was on the edge of my seat. A brilliant, brilliant day that makes up for 2005 when I missed our title win due to being on holiday in Italy. It's day's like this that remind we what a brilliant thing sport can be.

Well my pre-season tip turned out to be right, but am somewhat gutted for Somerset.

Could they make history tomorrow by being the first side to be runners-up in every single domestic competition?

And commiserations Etienne. A horrible choke really, wasn't it?

Yes, E10, I'm trying to focus on the positives, telling myself that we'd have got thrashed every week in division 1, but I'd have liked the opportunity to see if we could have raised our game.
