I'm switching it off now. Nothing hilarious to be seen here; one of the court jesters has scored for Liverpool.

And another one, before I had the chance to switch off.

Liverpool's season is back on track, I think.

Still didn't get up to switch off. 3-0 by somebody scoring his first goal of the season. The commentator is going mad with excitement.

At this rate it could be another 6-1.

That's what happens when Gerrard isn't on the pitch.

It seems that even a performace of some skill and finesse by Liverpool isn't enough to stop Steven Gerrard acting like a c*nt.

I may have missed something as I was watching it in the pub with the sound off, and I may be biased as I live in Southampton, but was Pompey's performance the worst ever seen in the Premier, as it certainly looked it?

Gerrard in poor run of form, shock.

Maybe now Capello might drop the twat and play Milner.

The commentator is going mad with excitement.

That'd be Jon Champion wouldn't it? He always shows an irritating tendency to poke sly fun at outfits who are getting thrashed by superior teams. He's actually okay, but has this tone of being a tad Peter Druryish whenever the better team gets the upper hand, a curious belief that most of us are on the winner's side. My sympathies were with Grant's lot. They were the epitome of the word 'demoralised'.

As for Gerrard, I'm astounded that the referee didn't see that clobber on the Pompey player. And it comes as no revelation that Gerrard will probably get away with it. The familiar sight of the great and good being spared the penalty for ugly play will raise its head again. Mind you, I was switching back to the Notts County v. Bournemouth and some of the stamping and physical incident was appalling - Lee Hughes should be fucking ashamed of himself. The judgement of the studio guest (some Hill chap) at the time? Yeah, it's okay, no harm done.

While acknowledging that football shouldn't be a contact-free sport, it's amazing how some people will let anything go past uncriticised just to satisfy what they think it should be.

All good points, but it was Michael Brown. A player deserving of something back if ever there was one.

He's a lucky boy isn't he? However, at least the referee was consistent. He didn't show a card of any colour to Dindane for his forearm smash to Mascherano's face right near the end either.

It's worth repeating that it was Michael Brown, too. Who as he was running, looked over his shoulder, saw Gerrard coming and veered across deliberately to try to foul him off the ball. His timing was off, was all. Doesn't excuse Gerrard, of course.

Clearly the announcement of the return of the superlambananas to Liverpool's streets was all the inspiration Rafa's boys needed.

Maybe they should commission some new ones, to be based on the current first team.
