That's what I thought, too, but they are actually forecasting 20 to 28 inches, which would be enough to shut DC down for a month.

I'm really sorry that I missed last night. Please don't take it personally. I hope it was a good time and that you'll come back to DC when my, er, plumbing is in better condition.
Yes, any snow causes mass hysteria, but this is going to be as much as 28 inches, they're now saying, which would be enough to slow down Chicago.

Last weekend went down from "a foot of snow to come" to "stopping in a hour - five inches" in the time it took me to eat some eggs.
If it is a big snow, go to Georgetown GY. The area is almost designed simply to look good in snow.

It sounds like I might be able to get something done today. The transit's not going to be shutting down until this evening, from what they're saying. The big question is whether my flight back is cancelled and what the fuck I do if it is.

Getting to Georgetown from where GY is staying would be quite an adventure in the snow. He might be able to walk it faster than driving it come tomorrow.
We wept when we heard you couldn't be there last night Reed. It was a sad and dismal affair without you. The skies darkened. The birds cried out in horror and dismay. Flowers refused to open. Dogs refused to wag their tails.
Hope you feel better at least.

You hope it gets delayed to Monday and get shitfaced drunk at a Super Bowl party.
Though not with Reed, as he doesn't do Super Bowl parties and will have to start his pre-game organization at 7am due to weather.
Or just watch DC drivers in the snow. When they get a wheelspin they accelerate to try and get out of it. It is awesome and awesomely terrifying.

It's coming down hard now. I'm on the 18th floor and usually I can see way out to the Mormon Cathedral and a water tower out past Rockville. Now, according to my calculation, visibility is about 800 feet.

Reed, we got your text message, and I duly passed on your apologies. It scotched our theory that you'd forgotten it was Thursday, or got lost on a rare foray downtown.
Let it be known that this loyal otf outpost abandoned The Bottom Line the second that Sting's voice began to come through the speakers. We found a nice spot at the bar of McCormacks (?) fish restaurant, a quieter establishment much more suitable for distinguished, aging gentlemen such as ourselves. Matej got into trouble with his trouble for staying out late on a week night.
I've chopped the firewood, stocked up the bird feeders, waited patiently in the long queues of Safeway, and printed out the football schedule for the weekend. Now I'm watching Bremen v Hertha, but mainly looking out the window at the snow falling, which right now is the more visually artistic alternative.
