Aaron Rodgers isn't lighting it up either. Both offensive lines are getting schooled.

Beautiful understatement.

I had to go to bed just after half time (03:20am here) but it really did seem that there was a whole lot of offensive rustiness there - on both sides. On the other hand, there were some excellent defensive plays, I thought. Rodgers took one massive hit as he released a long pass down the right hand side and I wondered if he'd get up, but he did. On the other hand, Chicago had that Hester TD where the secondary on his side just plain gave up!

Has anyone decapitated Vick yet?

I found Adrian Peterson's breathtaking athleticism breathtakingly astonishing.

This was almost as exhilirating as that Earl Campbell helmet-to-the-Rams-chest run, but in a completely different way.

I like Adrian Peterson's new Nike commercial. He is an impressive physical specimen.

He can't play until week three I believe.

There was some really interesting comments by Tony Dungy in his new role as a pundit on the otherwise awful pregame show.

There are also a lot of teams looking pretty rusty for a start of a season. And so many questions. How can you not get a good hit in during a full hour for rookie Sanchez? What on earth was going on in Cleveland? Who is ever going to buy Wrangler jeans when their commercial face is Brett "serial retirement" Favre?

Desean Jackson is improvising as the Eagles' 3rd QB right now until Vick gets back. Check out his punt return at the 1'40" mark here:

For once I actually have something to smile about in the NFL: Mark Sanchez and David Harris. Okay, that's two reasons.

Who are these 'Texans' anyway?

Expansion team after the Oilers became the Tennessee Titans, who are somewhat better as a team.

They have achieved very little in their seven years, though getting the Jets fans all fired up and over excited may be their high point for me.

Heh! It was a metaphorical/sarcastic question really. I heard they're expecting a good season. Hopefully this just means the Jets are in for a great one.

However, I'm a long-time Jets fan, so...

Jets: 12-4, then out in their first playoff game!

It was idiotic for Oakland to release him, but that's what they do best. But this really has me scratching my head. Is McNabb's injury that serious? Or are they just going to release him once Vick can play?

If McNabb can't play- they'll only have one QB for Sunday- they only had two last week (McNabb and Kolb).

I love the throwback uniforms tonight but gawd, do I hate the fucking Pats. If any one man needs a kick in the groin -it's Belichick.

I agree with both. But I thought the Patriots would win this 28-0.

Exhilarating.

That was ecstasy.

It was great, in only a way that an underdog Bills who have sucked for so long with nothing to lose and a star who's chased himself out of every town he played in with something to prove against Tom Brady's return in these old school Patriot Pat unis could be.

Like always, like their city has always done, finding the cruelest ways to lose, and yet squirming like a one-legged cockroach scrambling in circles in an effort to squiggle their way to safety in that final, brilliant play.

That game was some Shakespeare shit. Not King Lear, but definitely part of his canon.

(It was also hilarious to see them as much as an underdog as the Giants, and how like Superbowl XXV, the Giants somehow won, and the Bills again somehow lost.)

Well, the ten point spread (as ever) was part of the ridiculous gambling behavior that seems to heavily favor the Patriots in its view of the world (they were +14 points against the Chargers in the 2007-8 season, which when you have Belichick, or any top coach, one game before superbowl is ridiculous).

I was with a Bills fan, and a typically annoying Patriots fan who made reasons why this game was a lot of random positive statements rather than simply "really, really fucking lucky".

No team seems to have started this season off the blocks as a really impressive side.

Horrible rotten call against the Raiders at the end, especially when it was the same f'n catch that Ben Watson made against the Bills for the Pats go-ahead TD. Same f'n catch.

10-7 Raiders at the half. So far, so good.

The Eagles were impressive, but McNabb got hurt. So that tempers the excitement. The Saints offense was impressive, albeit against the Lions.

Given the insanity going on in their organization, the Raiders have impressed me by showing up with all their players wearing the same uniform.

The Bills came ready to play, but in agonizingly typical Bills fashion, found a way to lose.

The Raiders just got completely screwed by the instant replay. That was a touchdown.

That's 10-10. As some guy on Twitter posted, the Raiders hold the Chargers to under 80 yards of total offense, so of course they go into halftime scored at 10-10.

Hate to admit it, but the Raiders look kind of okay. Russell has some terrible passes, but McFadden could be a good running back, Richard Seymour is going out there to play, and their coach is a perfect choice for the organization. Maybe once Al Davis finally has a stake driven into his heart I might start rooting for them again.

Oh. My.

I'm cheering for a stake in the heart of Fake LT, Phillip Rivers, Tila Tequila Beata, and Norv Turner. I despise this Chargers team.

Like I said since last year, no way a team with Macfadden and Russell is going to stink for that long.

I hope Cable punches out another assistant in celebration. Like that becomes their Gatorade Dunk.

20-17 Raiders on a 57-yard bomb on a 4th and 15 for those who read this waking up in a few hours.
