Rogin

Ever since the outrageous incidents of Timberlake and Prince making it seem like the half-time show might actually be worth watching, the NFL has made a desperate push towards making sure it is shit and everyone gets to eat food and go to the bathroom.

Tom Petty, Springsteen, The Who.

I almost could believe the rapid rate of deaths in former successful musicians is all due to fear of being asked to do the HT show.

I like Springsteen as much as the average person, and I'm not really a Boss diehard, but I thought the concert last year was great.

I thought it was great that he always said he never would do it, and when he did his hope of the Giants being there blew up.

The half time show is really annoying I find, with all the kids running on the field and stuff. Removes good replay footage time.

There's plenty of actual football chat on ESPN and the NFL Network.

Wow. If I wasn't already rooting for the Saints, I would be after reading about Scott Fujita. Embarrassed to say that I haven't really known about his story before, though I've wondered about his last name.

From October 19th:

New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Fujita sounds off on Barack Obama, Rush Limbaugh

By Brian Allee-Walsh, The Times-Picayune
October 14, 2009, 10:00PM

New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Fujita tackled two hot issues Wednesday - Thursday's visit to the Crescent City by President Barack Obama and an attempt by controversial radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh to become a minority owner of the St. Louis Rams.

"If I could say something to President Obama, it would be to bring the troops home, '' Fujita said. "And stay patient and don't back down on his health care plan.''

With regards to Limbaugh, Fujita said: "Does he have a right to own a team? I'd say yeah, but almost anybody does. Would I like to play for him? Absolutely not. To claim to millions of your listeners that slavery had its merit and during the days of slavery our streets were safer after dark, are you freaking kidding me?

"I know a lot of other (NFL players) felt the same way. They just don't want to talk about it.''

And has anyone ever had experience hosting s Super Bowel party...with six or seven 1-year-olds ? Somehow we ended up hosting the Who Dat Nation Baby Brigade.

(I want to say so bad who the parents are of one of the kids, but they had a very rough week in the news and I don't want this ending up on a google search.)

The Who?

Forgive me, but that will be more amazing than anything that happens before or after half time.

Hey, I still have WHO posters on my wall in my classroom, but would only wish they play ONE non-FM classic rock played-to-death song. I know that is a longshot, but if they opened w/ "Can't Explain" I'd be very happy.

Doubt it will be more amazing that either half of football though....

Who do I support as a complete neutral then, OTF? The hurricane-blown Saints team doing it for the town, or the Colts with Manning looking to finally secure his place in the pantheon of Gods?

I'm not normally a great fan of "deserving heroes", I like to see them prove it on the pitch. So I'm minded to go for the underdog Saints. Because of New Orleans, and the story, etc. But are they, like, somehow undeserving in some other way I don't know about?
