In an excellent bit of hijinks, my friend realised he could use one of the Guild Wars 2 demo PCs to join the same game area that the developer was using in his presentation, to the whole Com. He jumped in, typed 'SUP CHUMPS? and threw a fireball at the developer. The presentation promptly crashed. Isn't that great?

That sounds like a classic inverse-"Leroy Jenkins" moment.

Right, gonna get me a part time job as a games developer and somehow wind up at E3 next year. Yup. Defo.

Haha.

Fresh from Germany, my friend has just informed me that he took off all his clothes before throwing the fireball. I assume he means in game.

Is anyone else going down the 90's nostalgia route and getting the new Worms game on Steam?

Got it downloading now; all I need is a copy of Dookie on cassette and a bottle of 20/20, and I've reclaimed my youth.

I'm playing Splinter Cell Conviction on Realistic difficulty, before tackling the Co-Op sections with a buddy of mine.

When I'm not doing that, I can be found playing DeathSpank, which is pretty good, as it goes.

That Splinter Cell looks good. And Worms would be good, if only so I can get the Holy Hand Grenade in Tf2...although who plays soldier any more? Easy mode.

Ahem.

It is good, just way too short. Plus all that Realistic difficulty does is reduce the amount of punishment you can take before you keel over; even with this change Sam Fisher's still double hard. I realise also that they wanted to get away from the uber-stealth of the early games, but there was no need to get rid of it to quite the extent they did.

It's enjoyable though, for the few hours you'll get out of the single player campaign.

Any other Gran Turismo players?

I am or have been looking forward to Gran Turismo 5 for ages, I still stick on Prologue from time to time even though it is a two and a half year old game.

Development has been strange and gone very much against the standard dev model of putting out regular versions with just enough enhancements to justify a £40+ price point. The absolute sheer amount of new content in GT5 from numbers of cars and tracks, carting, weather, night racing, 3D, head tracking, damage, track editor, customisation, WRC, Nascar racing etc. could easily have been broken down into two different releases with each still providing great value for money and double the income stream.

You reach a critical point where however much extra you squeeze in, it's not going to bring you any extra sales. It will sell masses undoubtedly but there is an enormous development offset of 150 people working on it for 5 years, plus the enormous external costs they would have incurred.

Picked up Bayonetta for £12 pre-owned. Glorious, over-the-top, balls-out lunacy. If you've not played it yet, you should. It's fantastic.

Yeah? I couldn't even get past 5 minutes of the demo. Perhaps I'll give it another go.

I'm stumbling back through Assassin's Creed and Fallout 3. They're both pretty massive (Fallout in particular) and things keep getting in the way of playing them, like 'work' and 'friends'. Cuh.

Bayonetta got rave reviews and seems suitably mental, but I just don't get on well with combo heavy action adventure games. Apart from God of War, where it's relatively easy to button mash to victory. I gave up on the Bayonetta demo during the final boss fight because I couldn't figure out if I was actually doing any damage.

I'm counting the days till the release of Civ V.

It's initially a little confusing, as you can't quite work out if it's just a button masher (which it could well be); however once you start to get the hang of the timing for certain combos and learn how to use Witch Time properly, the combat really opens up. The character and level designs are top notch too.

Then again, I liked Devil May Cry, so I might be a bit biased.

I also started playing Assassin's Creed but couldn't get into it. Horses for courses, I guess. I'm still playing Fallout too.

Yeah, that's the thing. I bought DMC 4 as I hadn't played the series on PS2 and it got rave reviews, so I thought I should give it a try. I lasted about an hour before I gave up.

Ok. So I need a 360 for about 2 weeks towards the end of the month. Purely for my own enjoyment. Are there any lovely London OTF'er 360 owners going away on holiday or something and who would be willing to lend me theirs in return for a copy of Halo Reach when I give it back?
Only I really REALLY need to play Halo Reach. A lot.

Now that Autumn has come and the missus is out working till late most days I'm really getting into some gaming again, with Red Dead Redemption and Street Fighter 4 currentl getting the punishment. It's a shame that my brother scratched my SF4 disc when he was over in the Spring, the little weasel, so now it cuts out in arcade mode whenever I have to fight Ken. Fucking annoying.

Heh. I was about to post the same thing (more or less), CTT.

Has anyone else noticed the odd trend recently of sequels generally being much easier than the original game? I came to 360 relatively late (it was a gift), and started out with Gears of War 2. I enjoyed it so much I went out and got the first one, which was significantly harder. Same thing with the recent Battlefield: Bad Company games. Weird.
