LEGO Batman was viewed as a disappointment because it's too similar to the other ones and because it doesn't focus on any particular loved story, there aren't any great 'moments' or cutscenes to reward the player with.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars (both trilogies) have excellent moments; frmo Chewie's melee attack of pulling the arms out of the LEGO stormtroopers' sockets to R2-D2 hovering. Though nothing quite compares to the recreation of the Han & Leia dialogue in the carbon freezing chamber.

A word of warning: the original Lego Star Wars on the DS was terrible. You'll want to get The Complete Saga, which revamped the levels and fixed a lot of bugs.

I had loads of fun finishing Lego Indiana Jones recently, but I'm worried Lego Star Wars will be almost exactly the same.

It is. But then, they're not really games you play for the gameplay. It's engaging enough, but you're really playing for the cutscenes and the general silliness.

I'm starting a league on FIFA10 for the xbox of teams that aren't 5*. The rules are straightforward enough and anyone interested in joining can PM me here. All you need is the game and an Xbox Live account:

Amazon are selling the complete saga on the DS for $20 US and some change so I may pick it up when I order my Star Trek DVD...

I see MW2 nearly killed the internet for 20 minutes today. Not bad, considering how long they must have been preparing for this across the world's game servers.

It was depressing, turning on and finding most everyone I know is on XBox Live, playing it with one another. But I will remain strong and have faith that Assassin's Creed 2 will be a better purchase.

MW2 doesn't allow dedicated servers. It's all peer to peer. It's been a pretty huge controversy for the last couple of months.

Due to a severe lack of funds, I've shelved MW2 for the time being. I'm now getting round to finishing Half Life 2 and enjoying it immensely.

I'm really enjoying MW2 right now. The campaign is a bit preposterous plot-wise, but if you look at it as a collection of set-pieces it's very impressive. Multiplayer is also more fun than I thought it would be, and I'm slowly getting less crap, but I hate hate HATE the Estate level. Sniper heaven, that is.

I feel embarrassed at my occasional interjections in this thread, as I can't really understand most of the other posts on here. However, I will observe that New Super Mario Bros Wii seems to me to be a very enjoyable game indeed.

Finally got my hands on a PS3. £120 used from a bloke at work. I feel he's undercharged me and felt a bit guilty but sod it, everyones skint these days.

Mind you, I haven't had chance to make sure it works yet, so i'll maybe revisit this at the weekend.

Can you lot recommend me three or four games I must get? Not counting FIFA 10 as i'm already sold on that one..

Depends what genres you like, but it would be hard to go wrong with these:

Uncharted 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Little Big Planet
Assassin's Creed 2

Speaking of Lego games, has anyone played any of the Lego boardgames that were released a few weeks ago? I might venture south to Toys 'R' Us tomorrow, to see if they've got the Reiner Knizia one.

Since we are coming up on season's end, it may interest some people in this thread to join the "Xpert Eleven" league that I admin.

The thread on football ishere

Basic new player info:
Go here: www.xperteleven.com
Sign up.
Search for this league: 108391
Apply for a team.
Get approved.
Post a press release insulting either: Beachcombers United, Cardiff Dragons, the league admin, or Isaac Bradley.

New season will start in approx. 2 1/2 weeks, but you can get in now.

We (the players on OTF) are considering creating a 2nd league to run in parallel with the original, where everybody can start at the same level. If you are interested, sign up and tell us your team's name on the thread. And then let us know if you are up for the 'challenging' league, or the 'new start' league. (or both)

Another 'noob' question. Can I use my PS2 controllers and memory cards with the PS3?

Not sure about memory cards, but the PS3 uses a USB cable for its controllers(or wireless via bluetooth). You can get an adapter if you really want, but the wireless Dual Shock controllers are really nice.

So, following my birthday I've acquired and completed MW2, and had a hell of a lot of fun / frustration doing so. Now to get into the multiplayer and get pwned by some 12yo in Arsewipe, Indiana. No doubt.
