Well, every other forum has one, so why not World?
Xbox: Not a lot right now. I'm waiting for an import version of Ghostbusters to arrive, though.
PS3: A mix of Final Fantasy VII (ah, the memories - ah, the countless random battles) and Red Faction Guerilla. The latter is far more fun that it deserves to be, although it has a few annoying quirks.
PC: Tons of stuff. I'm still addicted to Demigod, and I've barely scratched the surface of the character/skill options. I've just downloaded the new Blood Bowl game, which seems pretty fun but way overpriced at £40k (I expect it will be a lot cheaper when it's released at retail). I'm slowly playing through Rogue Trooper, on the recommendation of Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Again, surprisingly fun and well crafted. I'm trying to create a Firefly household in The Sims 3, but it's pretty tough to house and handle the whole cast in a $15k home with two beds and a sofa.I've put Empire: Total War on the backburner until the next few patches are out. The last one completely messed with my economy two thirds through a massive campaign.
I'm still playing Fallout 3 on the XBox, probably waaaaay more than is actually healthy. After a slow start it's become as addictive as crack, and potentially more relationship-threatening.
Why is it that levelling up has suddenly taken on gigantic meaning in my life? Is it sad that I'm completing random quests to hit level 20, before downloading the add-ons so I can get to level 30?
Glad to hear you're playing Valkyria Chronicles - it was probably the game last year which sold least relative to its merits. I really, really love it. Wonderful art style, gameplay that takes the rather stale tactical RPG format to a whole new level, and loads of backstory.
I got madly into Europa Universalis 3, and created a Dutch empire that spans all of North America, bar Newfoundland.
I have Hearts of Iron 2 ready to start, and am eying Dwarf Fortress warily. I doubt I am ever, ever going to get into Dwarf Fortress because I am not autistic enough by half, and do not have the time to devote to learning how to tell an ASCII smiley face that he should go and dig up some loamy sand.
The stories I have read of people's games on it are nuts though. If you do not know it, it revolves around you building a fortress to house a bunch of dwarves, and is the most indepth RPG I have ever seen. The entire game is in ASCII, yet it requires 512mb of RAM and a relatively high speed processor, because it includes full weather and geological modelling to an insane degree of complexity. And every world creates its own 1,000 years of history before you even start the game.
I am obsessed with this game in the same way people get involved with the compositions of Frank Zappa - worth gawping at, and certainly a respectable achievement, but not worth playing.
But yeah, I don't really have time for gaming at the moment, and if I did it would probably be FM2009 (something I always fall back on when football gets depressing in real life..)
I bought Gears of War for dick all on Play and am really enjoying it. Still ploughing through GTA, and loving the online FIFA action. Meanwhile I want to get my hands on Street Fighter IV and some others.
Any recommendations? Anything but RPGs will do me.
Getting really addicted to Drop 7 on my iPhone. It's kind of like Tetris crossed with sudoku--you have a 7x7 grid, and you have to place numbered discs in the grid. When a disc is in a row or column of as many discs as its number (say you put a 4 down in a row of three discs, making it four), it clears out and you get points. There are also some "covered" discs that you have to uncover by clearing out an adjoining disc. When a level is up, a row of covered discs is added to the bottom, pushing everything up a row.
I know that isn't the best description, but it's very addictive.
I bought Wii Active and it's superb. A 30 minute workout in the morning is nothing and there's no pratting about like with Wii Fit. You sweat buckets in those 30 minutes and I've really noticed a difference in my shoulder and thigh strength.
Quick question about Xbox 360. If I have a network attached storage unit with 1.5TB of space, is it necessary to have a hard drive on the Xbox, could I just save everything to the NAS? Or are there some apps where it's absolutely necessary to have the hard-drive on th Xbox? It's a big price difference between Arcade and Elite, just for a 120 GB hard-drive.
Currently working my way through Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Which is not my usual style of game, but is superb. Since I have the sequel, I expect I'll do them back to back. I really enjoy trying out the missions in different methods (stealth, charge, sharpshooting...)
I was playing FIFA 09 nonstop, but after winning the Premiership, FA Cup, and UEFA Cup equivalent with Grimsby Town, I know I have to step up the difficulty to "pro" level, and I'm not ready for that yet.
PC:
Playing way to much "Ticket to Ride Online" lately, but it's still loads of fun. Their new method of hooking players is a good deal (one-time price for infinite play).
Mainly Enchanted Forest, Viva Topo and Trio with the kids. M'lovely daughter is becoming better at Stratego with every game and will soon be trouncing me, no doubt. Oh, and I found a copy of this
in a second-hand bookshop in Sedburgh last weekend, which made be extremely pleased as I'd long been after a replacement for the one which got thrown out with the last of my childhood paraphernalia, years ago.
Can't really judge it yet. I've only played one match - my PC has been having overheating issues in this weather. So far, though, it seems pretty good. A few UI problems, but otherwise solid.

Bit of a broad question, but if you like GTA, you'll probably like Saints Row 2 (and Red Faction, which was made by the same guys). Other than that, not a lot of great console games out recently. Plenty on PC though.

Unfortunately, Microsoft are absolute cunts when it comes to Xbox storage. Unless you're just talking about your own video and music you want to access on the Xbox, you need to buy an extremely overpriced proprietary drive or proprietary flash storage. [Well, there may well be a way to hack it, but I wouldn't recommend it]. So far, there hasn't been a really pressing reason to go for a 120GB drive, so long as you don't mind deleting and redownloading things. But with some of the new services, particularly cheap AAA game downloads, it's probably worth it (when you're buying a console - it's way cheaper than buying an add-on drive). Regardless, I wouldn't recommend an Arcade box. There's plenty of stuff you'll want to download from XBLA, DLC takes up a fair bit of space, and some games work a lot better if they can install or cache to the hard drive.
There's been a fix for Empire today, apparently GY. Which might mean I can finally finish a campaign. I've put it on hold for the same reason.
Just downloaded Arma2. Which looks amusingly buggy.
Someone bought me Fight Night 4, or whatever it's called. I'm not a fan of fighting games. The slow-motion knock outs actually make me feel sick. Don't get me wrong, I love gratuitous violence as much as the next man, but watching someone's face judder into jelly and then watch their all-too-realistic attempts to get groggily to their feet, it's too much.
At least in Arma when someone gets shot in the chest I can scream MEDIC!
I don't think the E:TW patch today was very substantial, at least not judging from the changelog. The one a few days back was much more significant, although the forums suggest there are a lot of issues left. Not too surprising in a Total War game. I'm hoping the multithreading implementation speeds up the AI turns a lot, and they seemed to have fixed/improved a lot of issues with the trading side of things.
