Excellent.

I shall bear this in mind for future reference. I can't promise I'll make it to the first one, but I'll try to get to one of them, at least.

Do you never get bored of putting on club nights?

I'm not saying you should, I'm just curious.

Well, I'm only running two. This and Stay Beautiful. Ask me again in six months' time...

(I admit I've frequently felt fed up with Stay Beautiful, but that's about the stress of organising it rather than the night itself, which I almost always enjoy.)

Is it the 'dealing with people' part of arranging SB that is most frustrating?

By the way - is Spellbound going to concentrate on old-school goth (as the name and graphic implies) or is it going to be more of an all-round alternative (80s) night? I just need to know, so that if anyone I tell about it goes, they don't later accuse me of misrepresentation. (Not that I'd be particularly bothered, though.)

I'd say more of an all-round thing. Anyone expecting a pure smoke-machines-and-eyeliner fest might throw a sulk when we play The Specials or whatever...

That's a great manifesto on that Myspace page. Long live the C.R.E.

I hope you'll be giving Robin Trower's song 'Daydream' at least one spin during the night(s) ahead.

Highly recommended for your mid dance slow set.

It's called 'Daydream' but the word 'Spellbound' features quite a bit, particularly at the end

Bring the show to Missouri, Mr. Rhino. St. Joe needs some entertainment apart from the strip clubs.

I'm quite chuffed with how positive a reaction we're getting on this. Triple-figure friendships on Facebook and Myspace already after only two days, and lots of excited feedback. The venue only holds 120, so I reckon we're onto a winner here...

I'm very pleased to hear that ...but not surprised.

I've only been to Brighton a few times but, when I have, I've been struck by the number of people who look like they have teleported there directly from Camden/Kensington High Street/Kings Road in the late 80s or early 90s. By which I mean 'before alternative all went wrong'! It almost seems like a place where such people (who know better) go to shelter.

I hope I can make it to the first one, now.

By the way - I've mentioned this previously, but...

The week before your new club's first night, there is a one-off mini-festival: the Brighton Electrofest, which I shall also be attending. It's being set up by Oppenheimer Analysis, I believe, although I think the headlining act will be Komputer (who are, of course, ex-Fortran 5 / I Start Counting) but are much better now.

Heh!

I was just about to put in a request - that you do not play 'Don't You Forget About Me' - but then I noticed that the appearance of Simple Minds in your 'potential playlist' is followed - in parenthesis - by "...before they went crap"!

Sorted. Respect due.

Very nice!

I know that Rose McDowall went on to join forces with (dodgy Death In June neo-folkster) Doug Pearce, but what happened to ...ummm... the other one? I remember reading somewhere that she was painfully shy, so maybe she just disappeared.

For years I thought Jill Bryson had died (I must have heard it somewhere), but Wikipedia doesn't corroborate that.

No worries. I may have a root around the internet later on, to see what I can find. It's hardly urgent. I was almost thinking out loud, I suppose. (It's kind of what OTF is for!)
