Why bother with a Fat Tire in the UK when you can get the real thing, Belgian ales, fairly cheap?

I haven't had the Flying Dog or Goose, but the other ones in that package aren't worth £1.50 each, beyond the sheer novelty aspect.

That's actually what they cost over here anyway, in my experience.

Thing is, while I can get Belgian beer, and it is good, variety is the spice, innit...

Anyone tried the by the way? TAsy, but too, too strong:

Tonight I'm having this for the first time

and I'm liking, though possibly not quite as much as Bitburger. I'll need to do a taste test to be sure. It has a nice color to it, somehow. Beer Advocate calls it "a very refreshing light session beer."

Lowering the tone again...

Sainsburys once again have a 4-for-the-price-of-3 offer on some of their ales at the moment, so (also taking advantage of the fact that these are ridiculously cheap anyway, I feel) I have had 4 of these, tonight:

-

-

£1:52 individually; £4;56 for 4, therefore.

Unsurpsingly, it goes an absolute treat with a curry, bags of taste so spicy food does not overwhelm it (unlike lagers...)

Having been now 6 months living in Melbourne I've tried a lot of beer. Putting aside the pish like VB and Carlton and 4X...Boags and Cascade are both passable efforts and Invalid Stout is a reasonable beer but hats off to these 2 creations because they are fucking lovely. In fact most of these 2 breweries' output is in the top bracket

As you know, I'm a fan of British ales. So when you see something that says Traditional English Ale, well sir...

A lovely dark ale, from just up the highway near the lovely Hockley Valley in Orangeville. A little craft brewery that makes three products: this, a stout, and a lager that comes in a can so utterly ugly that it could contain the finest ambrosia known to man and it will still never be sampled.

AG, I heartily recommend you look for it at an LCBO. Seems it's only sold in Ontario, and not at beer stores.

Just don't mix it with the Glackin Stout, or you'll get an absolutely horrendous hangover.

I just got some bottles of Corona at my local supermarket for 40p each.
Not the World's best beer, but hey still tasty - and cheaper than I get it for in Mexico.

Gotta keep the brewery going, they own my favourite team!

Life's good.....

I've also got in a can of Caledonian 80/- for tonight. I can't find a picture that isn't blurry or too big, so I'll just assume you know what it looks like.

I know it taste like gravel.

I was drinking gold label last night.

I'll probably won't be drinking tonight, but could really go some Bitter and Twisted, which I'm sure everyone's well aware of. Got a criminally low B over at Beer Advocate. Seriously, philistines.

Yeah it is pretty good actually, just gritty. If you like 80 shilling, it's a good one.

Update: nothing really wrong with it, but not my cuppa. Too hopsy all the way through. Can says "light hoppy finish", but it's a bit more than that. Not a warm enough feel. Too bitey.

After a bit of label analysis the other day, I discovered that Asda's own-brand bottled real ales are brewed by Shepherd Neame. And not only that, they're going for a pound a pop. The Whitechapel Porter is luscious.

40p? That's crazy!

How many teams do Corona sponsor? Seems their logo is on the back of a number of jerseys.

anyone coming over to Australia this summer and hoping for a few beers better bring plenty of money. The James Squire Brewhouse in Melbourne knocks 'em out at $9 a pint, which is now nearly £5.

Most decent beers can be bought up at Dan Murphys stores for about £27 per case of 24 (4 six packs).

Still it's expensive compared to UK and you are advised to avoid the import UK beers unless you're feeling flush or it's Young's Double Chocolate Stout....
