What? The shirt looks like something for the Winter Olympics.

Just imagine it with his snood.

And considering that Buffon usually wears short-sleeves (at least that's what I remember), here's a look at that version:

Given that goalkeepers can sometimes deflect a ball wide with the merest of touches, with any part of their anatomy, surely it's going the wrong road to make their jerseys tighter, rather than light-but-bulky, or with bits sticking out of the elbows/shoulders etc...?

As an aside, there was a recent add in Eurosport that had Buffon um.... cavorting with a couple other Italian players in a smashed up hotel room. It was more than mildly odd. He was wearing that shirt too.

I actually think it looks more like something this bloke would wear on his days off:

A still from that campaign.

I didn't realise that the stupid Italian flag "belt buckle" motif was part of the outfield players' kit as well.

Gigi doesn't do "laughing in a carefree manner" well, does he? It looks like he's been Photoshopped in to that picture.

I got the Uruguay shirt a couple of weeks ago as a present,

I wore it last Sunday and nobody knew who it was. Someone said "Why are you wearing a Man City shirt?"

How do they get the four stars?

They have a lot more than two Copa America titles (c. 15, IIRC).

All of the regular denizens of our kit threads would have recognised the badge, of course.

The "AUF" lettering is different, the stars are yellow rather than blue, and the blue and white horizontally striped box looks to be solid blue on the shirt, but those differences may have to do with the manufacturing process.

From the federation's website, it seems that the other two stars are for Uruguay's two pre-World Cup wins in the Olympics (Paris 1924 and Amsterdam 1928).

Suspiciously, I found another picture with a badge that looks like Kowalski's, but with a (very ugly) red Puma.
Kowalski, is your Puma red?

It's strange; there seem to be "official" versions with both white and red pumas (not at the same time, thankfully).

Now it's white, I think the red ones were the early designs.

Portugal's second kit. I like it. All made from recycled plastic bottles apparently ... very green ... although we should perhaps also be told where, how and by whom it was made ...

Supposedly this kit is cursed. Although, really I just think the 1978 Mexican WC team sucked.

So if my calculations are correct, adidas have won the first battle of the shirt manufacturers:

adidas (12)
Germany
Spain
France
Argentina
Nigeria
South Africa
Paraguay
Greece
Japan
Denmark
Slovakia
Mexico

Nike (9)
Portugal
Netherlands
Brazil
USA
Australia
New Zealand
Korea
Slovenia
Serbia

Puma (7)
Ghana
Cote d'Ivoire
Italy
Uruguay
Tunisia
Algeria
Switzerland

Umbro (1)
England

Joma (1)
Honduras

Brooks (1)
Chile

I'm not sure about North Korea. Judging from the photos, I'd say the logo looks like Diadora, but that seems rather far-fetched.

So adidas have made sure Puma can't repeat their 2006 PR stunt when they boasted they had the largest number of teams under contract - which they managed because they were quicker than adidas when all those outsider teams qualified in Africa. To add insult to injury, Puma also were the outfitter of the champions, someething that adidas haven't been since 1998 and which seems highly unlikely this time round.
