A misguided attempt at alliteration.

That guy Robert Morris must be one good player. What? Oh, I see...

I picked ND, BYU, and Nova to win out of these first games. Looks like I might be going 0-3 for those picks...

"(Golden) Domers" has actually been used (though I always thought it was dumb).

BYU look quite comfortable, and 'Nova should win in OT.

Sad for that freshman at Robert Morris if they go out. He has been really impressive. I suppose (hope) he has another three years of the stage though.

The USC mouthbreathers that think that former LAT sports editor Bill Dwyer is biased against them because he went to Notre Dame call him Domer Dwyre.

"USC mouthbreathers" is redundant by definition.

Is Dallas Green the RMU freshman? He's got a very confusing name, as one immediately thinks of either the ornery former manager of the Cubs, Mets and Phillies or the indie singer-songwriter.

When I hear someone with the first name Dallas, I immediately think of:

More exciting games/results tonight. Northern Iowa beats UNLV. Not really an upset when a 9 beats an 8, but they won it on a 3-pointer from some kid that seemed about 30 feet out when he shot, and Ohio--a 14!--is about to dispatch Georgetown with extreme prejudice. They only made it in by winning their conference tournament.

I have to go to sleep, and I will hope Kansas ends up beating Lehigh by 40, because I'll never sleep again i Leigh pulls it out.

I loved the Washington-Marquette game.

Gawdawful ugly win from the Lobos.

Next up, #11 Washington. Alford had better have a helluva pep talk and the players need to seriously step up to make it to the sweet sixteen.

Nice enough batch of upsets for the first day...

Best game I saw yesteday was Marquette (better shooting/free throw team) vs Washington (much better rebounding.) There was that one basket with about 2-3 minutes left when Washington came up with 5-6 offensive rebounds in a row, then the final basket coming off of a rebound with :27 seconds left.

I can't get my head around Ohio-Georgetown. It's one thing to be upset, but as Inca said, a total destruction was not a possibility.

What a strange season Texas had. From being ranked No. 1 to a first-round exit at the hands of Wake Forest.

sports.espn.go.com/ncb/tournament/2010/c..._mark&id=5008601

By the time No. 3-seeded New Mexico held off No. 14-seeded Montana 62-57 early Friday morning on the East Coast, the carnage of the tournament's first 13 hours left researchers scrambling for the record books. Seven lower-seeded teams won games Thursday, including five double-digit seeds, the most on the opening day of the tournament since 1991.

And for those who think there's not enough parity in college basketball, consider this: eight of the 16 games were decided in OT or by a 3 points or less (that hadn't happened on the first day since the field expanded in 1985), 11 of the 16 were decided by single-digits and three games went to overtime.

How much of a difference is eight out of 16 being decided in OT or by 3 points or less? Consider this: There were a grand total of nine of those games in the entire 2009 tournament.

Only four teams ran away with victories on Thursday, and even No. 1 overall seed Kansas had its problems with No. 16-seeded Lehigh before pulling away with a 90-74 victory.
