It's called Lynx over here, and the best ad is a parody of it from Specsavers (geeky chap liberally applies deodorant, bikini-clad women come running, then spot his glasses and walk off). Not that it's any more enlightened, but I'll always enjoy advertising eating itself.

The campaign for their "chocolate scented" version for the Indian market (which frequently appears on cricket telecasts) is positively surreal.

I've seen some of those commercials here in the US. Or at least commercials with a chocolate dude being torn apart by ravenous women.

I'm more disturbed by the thought of women in their industrial lofts rubbing up against a pipe like dogs humping a couch leg when some guy living above them uses Axe body wash when he showers.

I don't know if men buy it at all, or if it's just for teenage boys. Their advertising certainly appeals to their notions of how relationships with women work.

You're probably right. Teenage boys use AXE, and after they figure out it doesn't work, become the bitter men that attend "Seduce and Destroy."
