Someone - it might even have been someone on here - said that the trick of finding happiness is to be happy with what you have. I would tend to concur, though I'm not always able to persuade my mind to agree.....

For example - being financially comfortable means I can get out there and do stuff, like watching football and other sporting events, and although this seems like a fairly pointless frittering of money to some people, it gives me a fantastic fund of memories and experiences that I hope I shall be able to look back on with fondness and a warm glow in later life. But I'm always wishing I could do more matches, more events!!

And reading posts like AHCs just make me feel shallow and unappreciative of how lucky I am <insert rueful, mildly embarrassed smiley here>.

It took me 20 minutes to type and rewrite mine, and realise that in total, my post meant not very much, even to me.

When my wife and me first got married we spotted an advert in a shop window for a dining room table so being a bit skint we phoned up and made arrangements to collect it.
The house we had to visit was enormous maybe 7 or 8 bedrooms with a study, dining room etc, anyway the bloke of the house was a doctor or consultant type and obviously seriously minted but our overriding feeling after leaving was how desperately unhappy they were they never spoke or made eye contact with each other so it always stuck with me that you can't buy happiness.

I'm not at all wealthy - my career choices have been tipped towards happiness rather than wealth-creating (and that I even had the chance to make that sort of decision is something I am very thankful for).

Guess if I had settled down and had kids I'd be flat broke now, and unhappier. So put me halfway along the continuum.

Hmmmmm. I’m not that into flashy things as I realise that they do not make me happy. What does make me happy is using my imagination in a way that makes other people happy. So I think that if I rich then I would spend the money on something creative or charitable.

I suppose my dream would be to start a record label and sign bands that are deemed worthy by my good self and with my mega bucks get them on good tours and such like.
