Opposition to Nick Griffin from an unexpected quarter.

Well, he was pretty unimpressive, to be fair. Hitler would have kicked ass on there.

A much smaller aside is that, at the time I started riding a scooter, a few years back, there were crash helmets - of a decent quality - on sale in my local dealership that bore the St. George's Cross and thus had been massively reduced compared to the 'plain' ones. I could have saved myself alot of money if I'd bought one, but the nagging feeling of "But I'd look like a nationalistic twat!" meant I couldn't do it. Do other countries - particularly in Europe - have this same dilemma over their national flag being appropriated by right-wing scum?

They were massively reduced, not because of their links to the flag, but because of the quality, or rather the lack of it compared to other helmets - they're legal, but there's not much more to them than that. Most riders have a loyalty to Arai, Shoei and to a lesser extent Shark, because they do a hell of a lot of research, and give a lot more protection than unbranded helmets.

And considering that both Arai and Shoei pitch their safest helmets at £200 (any more than that and you're paying for the design), there's no need to really skimp on it.

The only people who buy the cheaper helmets are dickheads who think they're too good to crash, or wankers who aren't bothered about the quality because "it's only for the missus".

I've just done it, and happy to see no-one in our estate.

But it's not at all ethical. It's like checking on paedophiles or something.

Wouldn't the BNP love that argument?

Somebody listed that or a similar link some pages back.
Though even the Guardian questioned its validity as others said, as what do we cross-reference it with?

And it may not be that accurate or comprehensive, given it was compiled by the typical BNP digbat.

They've just posted up that our local roads will be closed on Sunday, 13th thanks to the next attempt by Stop Islamisation of Europe to protest outside the new mosque. There's going to be a counter demo...

Ok. We outnumbered the half-wits by more than ten-to-one. They had a banner with their Stop Islam stuff on it, and then unfurled a couple of Israel flags. Which infuriated our lot. Understandably.

After an hour or so, my mate, who'd been taking photos which I hope to link to at some point, decided he was cold and wanted to watch the football. At this point, the fools were pretty much as the last dozen (of the twenty at most) were slithering away. And that, we thought, was that.

Anyway, after watch an utterly turgid football match in the pub, we wandered out into the street, to be confronted by a group of eight or so knuckle-draggers singing "E-E-EDL".

And as I wandered (a few minutes later) towards home, there was another small group doing the same thing. About six, who, when not chanting, were trying to work out what train to get home. They were being tracked by a police van, which just sort of followed them along, keeping an eye on them. Very strange.

Anyway, according to the Beeb's report, (which is reasonably fair, although I'm not a member of owt) not an awful lot happened.

Fascists in Harrow? Mosley'd be turning in his grave...

Were they singing E-EDL-whites?
