given the all recent goings on at Wolves in the last couple I was wondering do people here think Wolves fans are fickle? Are fans of Wolves really as bad as there being made out by certain people

actually i was going to follow that up with "wait, no", but you had to step in and ruin what was already going to be a senseless and, to be honest, shit joke.

i've never knowingly met a wolves fan, so wouldn't be able to offer a sincere answer. liked seeing a kid in a daft hat blub on the telly, mind.

Well I'm sorry for that dogbeak, Wolves are going through a very trying period and with manager and fans turning on each other it ain't a good time to be a Wolves fans

For what it is worth, I have always thought that Cardiff supporters are very fickle but they and Wolves fans both gave Dave Jones a reasonable amount of time - rightly as well.

Is nobody going to take the opportunity to post some amusing banners?

But anyway. I doubt anybody outside the West Midlands really has a strong opinion of Wolves fans to be honest. The only club I immediately associate with fickle fans is Villa, and I'm not sure that their fans are particularly worse than any other football fans

"19,000's was a brilliant attendance bearing in mind we've got no big names" was a comment I heard from a Wolves fan on the way of the first home game of the season in 2006, which pretty much sums up my view of Wolves fans and their fickleness, the "You've let us down again" banner sums up the sense of entitlement so many Wolves fans have.

In the mid 90s, working down the road from Molineux, I'd hear on a daily basis how Wolves had a "Premier League ground, Premier League manager, Premier League players, and most importantly Premier League fans". Fans that desert them in droves at the slightest hint of a bad run. I remember how few fans they had in Division Four, even compared to other clubs in the division at the time. I've never heard a set on fans vocally turn on their team because they're not meeting the overestimated expectations the fanbase have put on them - like that's going to make them want to raise their game. At least Villa fans walk out, rather than boo the team while they're playing.

This is, by some distance, the worst thread in the history of OTF. And given some of the competition (plenty of my threads for instance) that's some achievement.

Is it only Wolves supporters who say "Come on, me babbies" or is it a wider Midlands thing?

I have never heard that. "Oirroight, me babber" is a Bristolian thing.

You are only here because you were going to post "You've let us down again" picture that fussbudget beat you to, aren't you. I almost alerted you to the opportunity last night.

I used to drink in a pub called the “The Old Bush” in Albrighton when I was at Cosford. All through the summer of ’03 overweight blokes in way too small Wolves shirts sponsored by “Manders” would spend their drinking time in there bragging how they would make Europe, blah, blah, etc, etc. The pub even got Sky in.

By the summer of ’04 the shirts had disappeared quicker than the Sky subscription. I didn’t hear any mention of Rotherham, Crewe, or Gillingham that season.

This is all equally true of supporters of most if not all teams though, surely?

I like Wolves, it's always been an excellent away game to go to, as I've said before they have the best set of run-out tunes in football (though Millwall still have the best individual run-out song obviously).

It would appear from a quick google that "Come on, me babbies" is just a wolves thing;

Are they letting Cardiff fans back there, then?

I don't think all fans have such a sense of entitlement than fans of certain clubs, such as possibly Wolves, have. That's not to say all Wolves fans share that view though.

We beat them with our only shot on target (from a player who only ever scored one goal for us) the last time they banned us so I think they gave it up for karma-related reasons.

Can anyone see the image I posted or is there a problem putting photos from flickr up?
