It just may be time, you know.

They're going to build a statue of him in Lahti. When they're building statues of you it's almost certainly time to retire.

Actually, I think Liverpool will be pretty happy at Torres getting some match sharpness back - assuming he doesn't aggravate the injury.

Northern Ireland take the lead in Slovenia, would be a great win for them.

I think Liverpool will be concerned that he is getting enough time to recuperate between games as playing too much before he is 100% is the thing most likely to set back his recovery.

Joe Hart really looks like he has solved the England goalkeeping conundrum. He has been excellent tonight when called upon.

Did Townsend really just say 'long straight balls down the middle, easy for England to defend'?

What a weak memory he has.

Was just checking Defoe's England stats on Wikipedia.

Apparently, 'Defoe made his England debut in 2004 and as of June 2010, has made 44 appearances, scoring 178664575456779083 goals.'

Further more some wag has changed his DOB to make him 87 years old.

Poor keeping that.

Before the game, Lee Dixon was saying "70,000 at Wembley, after a disappointing WC, only in England." He might want to take a look at the Stade de France crowd. Probably not a look at the game though.

Defoe hat trick. Well taken goal and then pulls up with his groin looking like it has gone. Harry will be furious with him.

Belarus lead in France, hint of offside in the build up.

Great finish by Defoe for his hat trick. That all three with his left foot? 'Arry won't be happy, he appears to be in some pain.

It was not his groin it was his left ankle.

Missed the late Belarus goal, but France didn't look that bad on the whole, save for lackluster finishing. On the plus side, it's good to screw up early enough in the process and Romania managed to tie Albania.
