I was working for the Central Jersey Riptide at the time, when former Cosmos player and Riptide coach Ferdi Dimatteus came in and said "Harkes is off the team. He was banging Agoos' wife."

DC trades an international slot to KC for Adam freaking Cristman. Really? REALLY?

Schedule is out-30 games, everyone home and away once. Important note-this year the Telefutura games are largely Saturdays at 4PM, no more every Sunday.

DC notes-we're done with KC in the 1st 6 games, and don't get Toronto until the last 7-@TFC on 9/11, home to them in the regular season closer. Both DC-Seattle games are ESPN2, of which we get only 4. Peter Nowak returns Sunday August 22. And at least at/home to NY, PHI, CLB, and NER are all Saturdays, so traveling support is feasible.

Upon further perusal of the schedule:

Philly opens with 8 of their first 10 away. Ouch.

Saturday April 10th, you can sit back and veg out all day long, if you've got the PPV. 8 games, starting with Philly franchise home opener v DC at 3, concluding with Seattle at Fake Salt Lake at 9PM.

Philly's newly sponsored stadium opens for business June 27th vs Seattle.

Colorado hasn't come up with start times for most of their home games yet for some reason, and their RMC games with FSL both come in the last 4 of the regular season. There's an impending bloodbath.

And congratulations to Toronto for the clueless scheduling award. May 22nd vs New England, 4PM. UEFA CHampions League final starts at 2:45. Oops. They also play 6 of their last 9 on the road.

Actually, where is the new Philly stadium? The reason I ask is that, due to copilot error on the journey back from DC, we ended up taking the via Philly route. Not having been past before, I was really surprised how the Sixers, Eagles and Phillies pretty much could share the same parking lot. Are they out there as well?

No; the new one is in Chester, south of the city on the water.

You can see it from the Amtrak tracks.

Lincoln Financial Field- home of the Eagles..
They don't have the 2nd home match listed yet but I would assume it's also at the Linc.

Chester is about 15 mins, by car, south of Philly.

I just hope this kid shows up to the home opener:

Our schedule is sheer lunacy. How do we get 7 games in May and only 3 in June? (n.b. including our Nutrilite cup games, which we damn well better win without all the fucking drama this time).

Jefe - I am an idiot.

We've released Adrian Serioux. Which is Good.

But kept Nick Garcia. Which is Bad.

And signed Ty Harden. Which is Good. Provided he doesn't decide to take another sabbatical.

And were going to have Jorge Andrade on a trial until his agent announced he could no longer be located (somewhere in Portugal, not sure where exactly). Which is probably neither here nor there since even without the fieldturf, I can't see a guy with only one kneecap being able to play at this level.

Next year's NASL/USL/WTFEver expansion teams will be in Atlanta, and Edmonton. FC Edmonton, for short. They can't be the Drillers because the Drillers are a minor league indoor soccer team.

DC is trialling assorted young foreigners no one's ever heard of, a Jamaican defender among them.

Colorado to construct purpose-built terracing.

In a move that will transform the way the world’s game is supported in the Rocky Mountain region, the Colorado Rapids announced today their plans for the creation of the new “Supporters Terrace” behind the north goal at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for 2010 and beyond.

Using the stadium’s unique design, this new Supporters Terrace will become an adult-oriented area designed to allow for the exuberance of the Rapids’ most passionate fans.

This move to create a new section of the stadium specifically to appeal to the Rapids’ adult demographic was conceptualized and created in conjunction with the Rapids’ existing supporters club leaders and will allow for their voices and energy to be felt in a whole new manner.

That's not quite correct Jefe, at least according to the FC Edmonton GM:

"I run an indoor league and one of teams are the “Drillers”. I could get the name from them any time I wanted, but our interest in that name is very mild right now. We grabbed the FC Edmonton name so we could have a legal entity but we may just keep it."

Epic bump.

So, the players voted to strike if no deal by the season's start. By a count of 383-2, apparently. One wonders who the two are.

DC, in preseason, beats Santos Laguna in Mexico 3-2. Omen, please god, omen....

Sasha Victorine retired, and is doing TV for the Wizards. Who have a ton of games on free to air TV somehow now.

Columbus meanwhile gets two second half goals from Big Bird to draw Toluca at home 2-2 in the first leg of the CCL.

Greg Sutton has signed for RBNY, as has Carl Robinson, who is somehow now only getting $125,000, and Toronto receives a 4th round draft pick for his rights.

Red Bull Arena opens Saturday, a friendly vs. Santos. Yes, Pele will be there, I believe.

eta: Adrian Serioux, or his rights after his release in the MLS way of doing things, shipped back to Houston for a 3rd round pick. In the same manner, Kevin Hartman washes up at FC Dallas also for a midround draft pick last week.

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaarrrgghhhh! Woo-hoo!

Deal done. Finally.

I'm quite surprised at initial reports of how much the players may have got. Perhaps the owners realised quite how ruinous a strike would have been for MLS.

Ah, well... not my concern. Just bring on the season!

I'm sure I'm damning us right out of the gate, but I have a warm, happy feeling that my Quakes aren't going to be quite as crappy this year as the last two. Good indicators in the first couple of weeks, with first game at home to the champions and then a repeat for the US Open Cup qualifier (14th Apr) will show which kids and fringe players are up for the fight.

"We're gonna build something this summer!"

Shit. Now I have to book a flight.

Yay! Yay! Yay! Snoopy dance!
