Iechyd da lads, and Czesc to poor old Jorge having to rough it in Warszawa ;)

I feel your pain about the media coverage. The London media is so far up Capello's arsehole it could set up a base camp*, the only alternative Murray and the rest of the Belfast boys on increasingly moronic Radio 5L.

I was chatting briefly the other day to Mark Clyde, one of the heroes of our nine-man rearguard action at MillStad back in 2004. He's now playing for Worcester in the Conf South.

Ched Evans to bully Terry in 2011 and defeat England who'll probably be World Champs by then thus making us World champs like Scotland were in 1967

we were the first team to beat west germany after their 1990 world cup win

England v Wales will be great fun. I for one really hanker after the "Home Internationals", I wish they could bring that back. I don't think it's any coincidence that when those matches were fought out at their fiercest, from the 60s to the mid-80s, all the "home" nations enjoyed success that none of them, really, have managed since (including England).

"Competitive" football beats "friendly" internationals, in all senses, all the time. And the Home Internationals were always competitive, in my recollection.

You obviously didn't attend (or possibly watch) the recent qualifiers between us.

Not just dissapointing results but drab, passionless (once the anthems had passed) and uneventful games.

The Wales v Norn Iron games from the same group were quite the opposite.

I don't remember disappointing results, I remember us thrashing the cymru out of you.

You hardly thrashed us in Cardiff. Manchester, yes, but in Cardiff it was a lucky Gabbidon deflected goal which won it for you.

Otherwise, what Harry said.

I agree, it wasn't that we lost, we didn't even get stuck in. We rolled over and died. I'm going to be using the phrase 'Law of averages" a lot over the next year or so.
Then again, as I have mentioned on here before, I was walking away from a recent welsh defeat and I reckon that since I first saw Wales play at Ninian Park in 1976 against England, I have only seen about 5 really great results. 5 in nearly 35 years.

Typical, England get their usual easy draw and Wales are in a really difficult group!

Oh..

I knew I recognised Worcester's most accomplished centre-half from somewhere. This would explain that. The fact that he's the same age as me is also a welcome piece of information, given that on appearance I'd bracketed him firmly in the 'veteran' category.

Jorge, any chance you could find Brian Flynn's goal against Scotland in 1975? My favourite Welsh goal of all time.

Oh for fuck's sake.

When do the Euros expand to 24 teams?

No wonder we've expressed interest in hosting the Euro's!

You have to admire Capello's straight face in complaining about how hard England's group is, although Wales looked like Brazil circa 1970 against Scotland recently.

There was no West Germany after their 1990 World Cup win.
