Expanding the Euros to 24 teams is certainly ludicrous, but probably won't benefit medium sized countries. Few of them have the instructure to host 12 participants- imagine Austria, Switzerland or Belgium finding six adequate stadiums for a future event.

The enlarged competitions will rotate among the big four or five western European countries.

Scotland have no hope of staging Euro 2012. If the Poles and Ukrainians lose the gig, it'll be in England or Germany rather than Kilmarnock and a rebuilt Tannadice.

There's ONE complete stadium in Southern Ireland capable of use in a European championships. And even when Lansdowne is rebuilt Croke won't be generally available during the summer GAA season.

The cheeky Celts would be better off bidding for a future UEFA final, U-21 or U-19 event (as Northern Ireland did a few years ago). - Bring me Edelweiss
