Yawwn.... What a very poorly written and researched article.

I initially thought this was a piece much like the 'In A Nutshell' in WSC but was actually an actual original contribution full of the cliches beloved of the tabloids.

'It is said', 'possibility' all terms used by the author to justify his point of veiw without having to investigate any further than the nearest redtop. Supposition rather than facts is the usual game of the tabloids rather than a balanced argument.

He's done nothing more than been asked a question by a journalist on a slow news day which the redtops have all seized upon to comment about and turn into whatever story they wish to put across.

As for making a telling contribution, I would suggest tactictoe check his stats again as I distinctly remember Frank scoring against Liverpool this season from open play just off the top of my head. Let alone the goals against Barcelona and Bayern Munich from previous seasons(Oops, my bad! They aren't top 5 Premier League so can't be any good) and praise from Johann Cruyff and Carlos Alberto to boot.

Still, don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions. - Kazzann

Good article, i have yet to see Lampard make a tellng contribution when it really matters. The sheer hyperbole that surrounds him is unwarranted when you disect his performances against the bigger sides.
I used to take great glee at pointing out on various forums on t'internet that he hadnt scored from open play against any of the teams that finished in the top five of the prem.
Then i realised it was just being petty, and no amount of stat-crunching could ever outweigh the pr bombardment the average fan suffers.
Please go frank, your 'woe is me' attitude is rather insufferable. - tactictoe
