The only person who has sidelined Boyd is Boyd himself.

Mind you, if I'd been kept on the bench behind Iwelumo I'd probably have been a bit miffed too. But I wouldn't have flounced out like a big sulky wean. - Mr Beast

Whatever the SFA do they should not appoint Craig Levein.
He was hopeless at Leicester. The moment he stepped out of his SPL comfort zone he was comletely out of his depth - Dalef65

Unduly harsh criticism here. It is entirely reasonable that the new manager will expect to have full control over team selection, and the right to pick whoever he wants if he believes it to be of benefit to the team.

Ferguson's time may be over, but as long as Craig Gordon continues to get injured, and Miller/Iwelumwo continue to be unable to hit a barn door, the lads Boyd and McGregor are going to be needed.

Scotland fans will soon forget their deeds if the 3 players contribute towards a successful qualification. - TartanMackem

It's never difficult to criticise the SFA but I think this is a little harsh. The reality is - whoever the new manager is will demand the right to pick Boyd, McGregor and/or Ferguson as part of the job. The Scotland job is tough enough as it is without handicapping ourselves by keeping three obvious picks sidelined. So the real criticism should be aimed at George Peat, who was behind the whole Life Ban thing, not pausing to think for a second that it would actually be unenforceable unless Scotland qualified for everything under Burley and life was a bed of roses.

And - well, I suppose you are criticising him as the president of the organisation - but the unenforceable decision was made months ago, and it was plainly ludicrous at the time. Peat should've been criticised for it at the time; all Smith is doing now is earnestly answering a journalist's question, which involves the acknowledgement of his own boss's failure. - Broon
