Could WSC become a Champions-League-Free-Zone please?I for one am bored with the whole Europoptastic-midweek-television-revenue- superleague-extravaganza, or whatever its name is,boring boring boring.Just ignore it and let it get on and consume itself,
Leave it to the National dailies and Sky. - Dalef65

"After all, without that catchily titled innovation, the likes of Debrecen and FC Zurich would probably not have the opportunity to prop up two of the sections in the hallowed territory of the group stage."

While applauding such measures to bring the best possible level playing field to the CL, it still might not change the way that the top clubs compete, and you might get the large-scale version of a domestic cup - lesser-known teams fall by the wayside, the big fish continue to swim in the pond they've continually occupied for ages. But I suppose some interest needs to be drummed up - as a WSC magazine article cogently put it last month, because European excursions ensure that all monies (and headlines) of a CL run go to the usual suspects, it's hard going to drum up support for big clubs in Europe from fans whose clubs will either never appear in such a competition or who couldn't really give a stuff about the whole enterprise. - ian.64

Let's hope that a more competitive Champions League, with less cetrtainty for the big clubs of a good run with a pot of TV gold at the end, means more competitive domestic leagues.
